What travellers are saying
- SFO_DrewSan Francisco, CA344 contributionsIt is a tidal marsh area, so the sand is quite saturated and difficult to slog through at low tide. But very picturesque - especially at sunset. Grab some cocktails at Novotel!Written 18 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LetsTravelForFun386 contributionsBau Nyale Festival is a tradition of Lombok residents living along the southern lombok, to catch nyale (worms). Nyale appears once a year at Kuta beach and Seger beach normally around February during the rainy season according to Sasak Calendar.
They appear for two to three nights only, precisely at the time before dawn. Although the elders always say that they can predict precisely, but most of the time the predictions miss by one day, sometimes even by a week of the appearance of the worm.
For the people on the island of Lombok, the Bau Nyale Festival is an age-old tradition that is closely linked to the legend of Princess Mandalika. However when we interviewed some of local lombok people from Mataram or Senggigi (west part of the island) many of them only heard about it but surprisingly not interested to experienced it.
The Nyale catching ceremony are always very festive. There was a long parade came from many different villages with traditional Music Instrument and outfits. Even pour down the rain not stop them to celebrated! Many people gathered in front of kuta beach where they set up a stage for a live band this year. This day created massive traffic to the beach and many roads blocked by the government. The next day we saw thousands of people wading in the shallow sea off the coast to catch the worms.
We had a chance to have a close look of the warms in the bucket and they appeared to be green and orange / red. They disappointed say not catches many worms this year.
We passed the traditional market and saw couple worms for sale whether alive or cooked but not brave enough to try it
The ceremony is indeed quite unique. Something to experienced at least once ;)Written 7 June 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - AP194RPerth, Australia792 contributionsJust a short walk from the Novotel are these statues, there is no signage or explaination of their significance and you will be bothered by many vendors trying to sell you bracelets but still worth a look .Written 20 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Raphaelle RBenidorm, Spain1 contributionOn top of the hill, surrounded by jungle, there is the beautiful Ashtari yoga center.
And even better, Dewi teach a combination of yin yoga sound healing (and other classes).
The sound healing combined with the gentle yin yoga practice is an experience you won't forget.

Really good Yoga for a fair price (you also get a huge discount if you are guest of their Hotel) in a beautiful environment.Written 15 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Alice1 contributionSurf trip with Jordan and the other boys (Blackie and the boat captain) was super relaxing and fun. Door to door drop off and and easy communication with the owner :) I felt very relaxed and calm in the ocean and even caught some waves! (I’m 100% begginer with only a few surf hours behind me) So I’m super happy that I did this trip and hopefully will do another with friends one day :) Thanks heartbeach Lombok! 💖☀️💦🌊Written 31 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Johnny tam1 contributionI am a Hong Kong traveler who stayed in Lombok for a month in Feb. i had around 14 days lessons which surfing with monkey surf teachers. All I want to say is the teachers are very good, experienced and patient. They can provide a recommendation of your style and positioning right after you catch the waves. The recommendations are very good for a rookie like me to tackle some more challenging waves. Thanks for your help in the last month and I will recommend you guys to check this school if you are in Lombok.Written 10 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JaclynJasper, Canada8 contributionsSasak soul truly made my surf experience more then I could ask for! I’ve done a few surf camps in Bali etc but sandy and his crew gave me a warm family vibe welcome and we had tons of good times in the water or just hanging out. Awesome for solo travellers or groups!

- Fab1 contributionDiving trips start at the Novotel beach, where you can chill while watching the beautiful bay.
It s also a very nice area to cool off after returning from a triple dive trip.
The team is very friendly and i had a good time talking about all sorts of things with the divemasters and the local manager.
They are professional and well equipped. I felt safe while diving in Kuta.
Choppy waters, currents and planctons make it a different/ more challenging experience compared with the nearby Gilis. As a diver looking to expand my skills i enjoyed this environment a lot.
Price is on par with market level and actually cheaper than some competitors such as Blue Marlin.
Overall, i recommend!

I was panicking about what to do but found this tour company to help me book all of my flight tickets (three in total). They were incredibly fast and responsive, and I found the experience of booking tickets through them to be very smooth!Written 3 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
