Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- mbellnyOttawa, Ontario243 contributionsIt's worth the trip just for the views. We went to Calanque Sugiton which requires a reservation. Make sure to reserve as they are checking and we saw several families get turned away. This Calanque is worth it for the views but not for the swimming. The water access is very crowded and very difficult to get down to the water. The water is extremely cold in this area (in July) as well. The views however are amazing! Also note the walk from the car park to the end of the calanque is a good trek and not well signed. We got lost coming back and ended up walking a few extra km.Written 14 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stig G3 contributionsThis is a stunning place, that I have visited over the years with my family, both by walking and by kayaking from Cassis. It can only be reached with some effort, which seems to be a problem to some reviewers, However, it is definitely worth that effort and it’s also important to recognise that this remarkable piece of wilderness is protected somewhat by being less accessible. There is a lot to see along the way too, particularly if you take in the slightly longer coastal route between Port Pin and En Vau, which offers great views of the Calanque from high above.
You CAN get closer on a mountain bike but have to park up about a kilometre away, and powered craft can only go a certain distance into the Calanque so the tourist boats don’t really get anywhere near the same experience.
Its enjoyment can be influenced by the timing of your visit to some extent, as it gets very crowded during peak holiday times and in the middle of the day. Also it gets the best of the sun in the morning, so all in all get there early to avoid both the crowds and the shade.
It is an awesome place to swim and swimming on your back is my recommendation, as that offers the best views!Written 11 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Little market on a Wednesday selling food, flowers, soaps and clothes. The architecture is stunning and you can’t help but fall in love with Cassis. It’s perfect.Written 13 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Helen CKingston, Canada24 contributionsWe were looking for a short hike so we chose to walk to the Calanque de Port-Miao. It was an amazing way to spend our morning. This meant walking about 25 minutes from the centre of town to the beginning of the trail, the scenic viewpoint for the Calanque de Port-Miao. We used Google Maps to get us to this spot (look for the camera icon).
On the way, we enjoyed seeing the neighbourhood homes and gardens. From the scenic viewpoint, we walked along a wide trail beside the calanque, soaking up every bit of the scenery – the cliffs on the right and the boats in the calanque on the left. We went down the path to the Port-Miao Marina before heading back to town. On our way back, we stopped at Plage du Bestouan and had a tasty panini at a tiny little takeout place, Au Petit Buffet.Written 6 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elmaz AOakland, CA42 contributionsThe Wednesday and Friday morning markets are a good source of local produce. The food is fresh and a little below store prices. The rotisserie chicken is delicious and a great idea if you're staying at a guest house or bnb and want to eat in. The stalls of clothes are similar with much Italian linen, way below US prices. Shop around, though b/c prices differ in the off-aisles. The market is crowded during high season, but since it's staged in the park and square you can sit and rest. Also refreshments are very close by as you are near the harbor. Take a good carrying tote, go early, because they close up around 1:00Written 3 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Victoria JCharlotte, NC38 contributionsOur hotel recommended this beach as the less crowded one. Still crowded, though!
Note that if you walk up the stairs on the left, you can lie/sit on the flat rocks, which is more comfortable. Also, if you keep going to the left around the corner, there is a bit of shade, at leas tin the afternoon.
In early June the water was freezing my my wimpy standards, and it IS a rocky beach, like much of the Cote d'Azur. This was a good opportunity for my kids to see something very different from our North Carolina beaches!
The walk back to town can be hot, so be sure to get wet before starting the trek.Written 3 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The rosé was very enjoyable, but the white Cassis was even more refreshing and complex on a hot June day. The staff member who met with us and four other visitors was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing information in both French and English. A stroll over to the gorgeous sea wall to take in the views of Cap Canaille and the beach below completed our lovely visit. These wines are distributed across North America in small supplies so we'll be sure to look for them in wine shops around the Pacific Northwest.Written 9 June 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dufour DParis, France149 contributionsFor Cassis visitors who want to feel the experience of swimming in calanques and doesn't want to do long walks to the main calanques, this is the place to be.
It is 5 min away from Cassis center by car, and it has couple of parkings not far from it. Then you need to walk down a hill (not rocky) to reach this small paradise.
The water is clean and the place is away from the crowd.Written 1 July 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Definitely worth a visit.Written 24 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Georgina CLiverpool, UK16 contributionsThe beach soon filled up (We visited early August so no surprise really). A pebbled beach with lovely waters - kind of tricky to get into due to the slippy pebbles but very picturesque. There’s a little cafe with drink, ice cream and lunch type snacks. We walked there from Cassis, along a coastal footpath which was shut off due to fallen rock, but plenty of people still take on the adventure/challenge of walking the scenic route. I would add this to the list of places to go 👍🏻Written 14 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
