Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- monroundtheworldLondon, UK336 contributionsThis is a great way of getting to the very top of Spoleto (and down from it) if you're feeling lazy. It's a network of very slow travel travelators with a few stops in between to visit all the different sights.Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CanadianstravelingOakville, Canada379 contributionsWe were based in Spoleto for 10 days in April 2024 while touring the hill towns of Umbria. During a walk around Spoleto we visited the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta which dates back to the eleventh century and is the Duomo of Spoleto. We reached it via line 2 of the Percorso Meccanizzato on the way up to the Rocca. The Duomo has an impressive white facade and an even more impressive interior with a geometrically patterned floor, lots of natural light and magnificent ceiling frescoes by Fra Filippo Lippi. A side chapel also exhibits a signed letter from St Francis of Assisi to one of his early followers. Sitting quietly in the light-filled nearly empty Duomo, provided us with moments of connection to the millennium that it has witnessed. We also happened to walk through the nearly deserted Piazza del Duomo one evening after dinner and the illuminated Duomo was a silently imposing presence.Written 24 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CanadianstravelingOakville, Canada379 contributionsWe were based in Spoleto for 10 days in April 2024 while touring the hill towns of Umbria. During a walk around Spoleto we had .hoped to visit the Ponte Delle Torri, an impressive stone bridge built in the 14th century and a major tourist site in Spoleto. Unfortunately, the bridge has apparently remained closed to pedestrians since the 2016 earthquake in the area. However, we were able to get a great view of the Ponte Delle Torri during our visit to the adjacent Rocca Albornoziana.Written 26 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - monroundtheworldLondon, UK336 contributionsIf you're in Umbria, you must visit Spoleto and its beautiful Piazza del Duomo and Cathedral. You can reach this magical place either on foot or using the escalators or travelators. It's at its best when there are not too many people around - early mornings.Written 15 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CanadianstravelingOakville, Canada379 contributionsWe were based in Spoleto for 10 days in April 2024 while touring the hill towns of Umbria. During a walk around Spoleto we visited the Rocca, a 14th century hilltop stone fortress which we accessed via line 2 of the Percorso Meccanizzato and gained admission with our Spoleto Card. We wandered around the massive structure and its grounds and were rewarded with spectacular views of Spoleto and the surrounding countryside. From the Rocca grounds we walked down to Piazza Campello and took line 3 of the Percorso Meccanizzato to Piazza del Mercado to visit the Casa Romana.Written 26 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - G.B.821 contributionsYou can park wherever you want because the city has an elevator that takes you to different points of interest. I got off at the height of the Duomo. From there you can choose to go up to the fortress or take this very nice pedestrian route that culminates at the bridge of towers. Very nice.Written 12 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- G.B.821 contributionsThe church itself is pretty average, but the best is offered by the crypt. A volunteer accompanied us along the visit explaining in an interesting and entertaining way the works, unique, contained in it.Written 14 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hilkka HHelsinki, Finland44 contributionsWe walked this way about 8-9 kilometers, to the big tunnel. But the tunnel was closed after earthquakes in august 2016. So we turned back. It would have been nice to get this information at the starting point of the track in Spoleto.Written 31 October 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Linda BRaleigh, NC2,197 contributionsThe Roman Theater was built in the second half of the first century BC right inside the city walls. It remained in use until the fourth century. Today it is part of the State Archaeological Museum and is still used for shows and performances…particularly during the festival.Written 3 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BigcityeaterChicago568 contributionsThis was the last stop on a long day excursion and to be honest I was not looking forward to it. However I found the park fascinating and well worth a visit. It was much bigger than I thought it would be and lots to see.Written 30 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
