Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have flexiplus and a dog this trip (typical)
A couple of minutes queue at ticket barrier
Smooth through pet reception
Very clean toilets in the main building
Bit of a queue through passport control but not bad as all gates open
Main issue is impatient people chopping and changing lanes - this slows things up I always think
Flexiplus lounge was busy but organised and well
Stocked

Can’t complain (still not beaten my record of 17 minutes!)Written 20 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Loved that they have used the old train station and tracks to make a pleasant walk to the lighthouse. Lots of places to eat and drink in the summer months unfortunately not many in November. Still enjoyed the walk it's well lit so even walking on my own I felt safeWritten 13 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Freedom669840094151 contributionMy son lives in folkestone so I went for a visit it was on a weekday, it was a lovely day very sunny we ate fish and chips near the harbour area it was very yummy, then we all went to the beach for few hours, my granddaughter had a lovely time playing in the sand there was a lot of family's there with younger children also, I saw another review saying about the toilets near the harbour were bad well I used the ladies and the were OK but there is another set of toilets near the beach also it's a life guard building right next to the beach so maybe people don't know they are their and they are clean and tidy as we took my granddaughter into there to change her, a lot has changed in folkestone for the good they have redone the beach (the stone side) it has new bars and kiddie area and a very large screen area with deck chairs and food places, one Saturday daytime we went and watched a movie they have bands playing and events, but the weekend does get busy.Written 12 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Geoff HSissinghurst, UK18,057 contributionsA very good open green area with well-maintained paths which are wheelchair and pushchair friendly, although they undulate quite a bit and, in places, there are only steps to where you might wish to walk. The paths are also bike-friendly and you have to keep your wits about you as they can get up to quite a speed. There are plenty of benches and it is a lovely area where you can just sit and watch the world go by.Written 7 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nothing45-5London, UK3 contributionsIt is drastic to see that some people cannot just listen to nature but they need speakers, shisha, they talk and talk so loud. Just sad... technology has become an addiction.Written 25 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stewart CChatham, UK1,105 contributionsWe visited the Leas Promenade during a short visit to the area on an Easter Sunday in March. We had driven here and there is a good amount of (pay & display) parking available nearby, we chose to park at Folkstone Central railway station.
The Leas is a gently undulating paved and grassed area running along the top of the cliffs at Folkstone. Leading off the Leas are several paths which can take the visitor to the lower parts of the cliff though some of these had been closed due to chalk falls on the day of our visit.
Being a sunny day, we walked the length of this glorious stretch with views out over the English Channel (though could not make out the French coastline due to the haze). There is much to see along the way including the Leas Cliff Hall with its refreshment and toilet facilities and the very imposing hotels, ‘The Metropole’ & ‘The Grand’ and other buildings which look out over the Leas and the sea.
There are information boards along the route describing geographical features, buildings and other historical information and these make a very good read. Interestingly we learnt that during the Great War, soldiers were camped along the Leas awaiting transport across the channel to France via the harbour. These soldiers must have heard the big guns booming from the battlefields across the channel and wondered what awaited then there.
A most enjoyable walk.Written 27 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Fingers crossed that they will realise what an asset the old lift is. Maybe encourage the developers of Shore to support it as they must have greased a few palms to build in such a prime locationWritten 2 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mrsbsouthendRayleigh, UK787 contributionsSome parts of Folkestone (like many seaside towns) are a bit run down, but Folkestone has obviously had a go at regenerating the town, and it really works. We loved the quirky shops in the creative quarter. Plenty to enjoy and look at, cafe's to eat out, all leading down to the lovely seaside and amazing harbour arm. My daughter described Folkestone as like the love child of Southend-on-Sea and Brighton, and I knew what she meant!!!!!!Written 26 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - francescagrahamLondon, UK23 contributionsTerlingham Vineyard truly is a gem! We enjoyed the most beautiful natural surroundings and lucked out with absolutely perfect weather.
Jackie is so warm and friendly, as well as knowledegable. The selection of wines tasted were among the best we've ever tasted. We'll definitely be buying Terlingham wines for all our special occassions from now on!

Their job-satisfaction shows in their demeanor. - Itaewon-dongLondon 118 contributionsThe Promenades of seaside towns in the UK have all have a distinctive feature or two. For Bexhill, I'd nominate the De La Warr Pavillion and in Hastings & St. Leonards, the bottle alley. If push came to shove, I'd nominate the Zig Zag path (1920-21) as being particularly beautiful in Folkstone . The grottos are of course a marvel of nature and have been landscaped to perfection, overflowing with fauna and tunnels. It's a steep but enjoyable climb!Written 22 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
