This was all round a fantastic experience with excellent customer service as well!

I was meant to go on the tour on Saturday afternoon (4th June) but had been suffering with a terrible cold for a day or two before that. I range the number provided and the person who answered (Katerina? I'm not sure, I didn't catch her name) very kindly allowed me to change into the next day's tour at the same time. It didn't seem that there was any issue doing this and it was super easy to do.

The next day I was on the mend and managed to get to the meeting point - there were 8 people including myself plus our tour guide, Katerina - an engaging, happy and entertaining guide who had a lot of knowledge. The other participants came from a variety of places: UK, Australia, USA, China and the Czech Republic. It was a gorgeous and sunny day and just the type of day to walk around Oslo.

The tour was great but there is a reasonable amount of walking - so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. I walked from my hotel and back (around 4km as a round trip) and with the walking we did on the tour, I was a little weary by the end (but I did have a cold so that might have added to things). But the scenery was lovely with interesting artwork, a Sunday flea market, a beautiful river with numerous waterfalls and the surrounding areas with gorgeous buildings and chilled out parks.

The food we tried was great and all felt very Norwegian inspired. The waffles (at Harald's Vaffles) were amazing! I had already planned to visit this place so was very happy we came on this tour. The cocoa was delicious (even on the warm day) and the sausage that came with crispy onions and in a potato pancake of sorts was great too. I didn't need dinner that night!

But, by far, the best part of the food tour was when we got back to Mathallen and went to Ost & Sånt to taste a variety of "Traditional Norwegian" products including reindeer, elk and whale plus some cheeses (that "old cheese" was certainly memorable). Frode who owns this place has so much knowledge and is so engaging - I really enjoyed listening to his stories from his long and interesting career as well as his childhood.

Katerina and Frode really made this tour and I would definitely recommend this tour. Just be aware that the tour can over-run - it's meant to be 2.5hrs and I think we got to nearly 4hrs - but it was all totally worth it! Also, if you're doing this in the summer and it's a sunny day, don't forget your sunscreen!

We experienced Oslo’s most famous sites and best-kept secrets like no one else can – through its food. A quite special and a really refreshing experience. I promise, you’ll enjoy it. Our guide’s in-depth knowledge of the food scene in Oslo really added to the tour and everybody made some great discoveries. I wish I could recount all the historical and cultural details for you but that would spoil the surprise. You’ll have to go on this tour yourself and discover Oslo through its food

We very much enjoyed our walking tour of Oslo. Marcela Orsini was our guide. She had great insight into the Norwegian history and culture. We walked around the opera house, library, parliament, castle and city hall. A few points along the way she pointed out photo ops and acted as the photographer. At one point she took us into a convenience store to find a particular snack food we were searching for. All in in all it was a great experience. Definitely recommend to all.
