What travellers are saying
- Karen93160Toronto, Canada5 contributionsThe Bonus on Skipholt was the closest to my accommodation. It has a great choice of products, even vegan products, at low prices which is very handy to cook your own meals, and save money.
I even became addicted to the vegan Polo biscuits :) !Written 15 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Jamie80Ballwin, MO88 contributionsWe were expecting to find more local crafts/souvenirs. Some booths offer good shopping and others are cheap items you can find anywhere.Written 12 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ianwebb75London, UK932 contributionsA good sized mall with all the shops that you need including a cinema. A good place to visit as a tourist if the weather is poor and soak up a couple of hours. Nice food court with a good variety.Written 25 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Angeline WBergheim, TX20 contributionsDining room extremely noisy. Food barely above average. Video of cruise DVD didn’t work. No refund offered. Agent with Gohagan Tours not knowledgable. Otherwise spectacular.Written 15 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LSLStevenson119 contributionsI visited this women owned collective art gallery several times while in Reykjavik. Local art at its finest with something for everyone at varying prices. Go and browse even if you're not in the market for something new.Written 12 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Percy W2 contributionsJon Samunder and the Dead Gallery is a trip. His gallery is stuffed with paintings currently in preparation for a show opening on Sept. 24th in town. While his long term focus seems to be skulls, portraits and complex-patterned paintings of faces/shapes/symbols and ritualistic figures, he is also making some beautiful images of the recent volcano, plants and flowers. He is gifted and I think very worth collecting. I purchased 2 of his volcano paintings - roughly 24x24 for under $1000. A number of the larger pieces were very impressive and will find good homes, I am sure. When we found the gallery, down a side alley off one of the main walking streets in old town, there was tape across the open front doorway. I had to knock and yell before he appeared out of a fabulously packed working art studio space. He said he was closed, too busy working on his upcoming show. I ignored his response and began pointing to paintings that I thought were interesting from the outside doorway view. He responded by spending 45 minutes talking art and looking at a wide array of his work. Jon is much more than a skull ring and t-shirt artist. He has a vision of reality that is extremely outsider, but with the skills to produce well composed and original images. It was a trip meeting Jon and I am happy to have his work hanging in my Chicago condo.Written 7 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- zzaobristol180 contributionsA really good gallery, across two floors showcasing 2 artists when I visited. Well laid out, time to wander & absorb & helpful staff if you require. A great introduction to the local, contemporary art sceneWritten 2 July 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- nicolas nReykjavik, Iceland3 contributionsThe one and only place in Iceland for experimental music.
Intimate and pretty, the venue offers an eclectic and yet high standard program.
This is the place.Written 12 March 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - browncondo2102Kitchener, Canada1,353 contributionsThis was a real find while strolling through Lighthouse Village. It is on Hverfisgata St.
Really imaginary ceramic and mosaic sculptures. Truly one of a kind pieces.Written 17 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Mark N69 contributionsWe visited this gallery twice as it was the most interesting of the selling galleries in the city, with a wide variety of canvases, collages, ceramics, photography and sculptures, all of which are of high quality and very well presented. The staff can't really answer questions about the works in the same way as the (also very good) art collective galleries on Laugarvegur but there is much to enjoy; many of the pieces have quirky twists that make them just a bit different. There is also a toilet facility for visitors! Prices are in the main quite high but not at all unexpected for the quality on display. Well worth a visit for lovers of modern art.Written 4 November 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Emily R1 contributionI ordered a lava tree as a gift from Hidden People, Gem was so helpful in accommodating my order, which arrived quickly and beautifully presented and packaged through the post. The recipient thought it was wonderful. I would not hesitate in buying from Gem again.Written 4 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JMB20203 contributionsAmazing shop. I love the wool and this had the best range in Reykjavik. There have been problems with the production recently so it’s not the full range they usually stock but the staff were there to help me work out substitutes and alternatives. Thanks so much.Written 13 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
