#1 of 38 Sights & Landmarks in Gothenburg
We visited Brännö, the ferry crossing was very pleasant and then the trek around the island was fantastic, the views are amazing and there is a point on this island where you can see right across the Archipelago.
Always with a better weather out here than ashore, these islands offer a swim, a snack (some few places), neat houses and paths for the sights.

The big wheel gives you a fantastic view over the city, some great little stalls n with the city card the free entrance was all that was needed as most the rides were close, however there's still plenty to do.
It is a very large site, quite a lot of it a theme park with all the crazy adventure rides, but come Xmas it morphs into a winter wonderland with all the trees festooned with thousands of lights.

The church building itself is architecturally interesting and sits high on a hill, with some granite outcrops amid a lawn area that would be wonderful for a picnic or just a place to hang out and view the city.
Masthuggskyrkan is one of the most important landmarks in Gothenburg.

From Haga it's also easy to walk up the hill to the old fortress from where you can enjoy an excellent view of the city.
Make sure you climb the hill to the fort for amazing views of the rest of the city.

If you fancy real good Swedish seafood then visit any of the restaurants inside this landmark in the city.
Lots of shoppers here and two restaurants and a cafe on site doing a brisk business.

Best church in Gothenburg with a beautiful view
We sought out this landmark because my grandmother was christened here in 1886.

I go up almost everytday suring spring and summer, after 197 steps you have a unique city view from Gothenburg and you can comeback from Linnegatan to the city.
The views from the top are incredible and it is definitely worth a visit.

The views of the water and surrounding islands are great, you have freedom to explore the walls, underground rooms and the church tower.
The deep well and board walk was good to view.

We live near here when we're in Sweden so I guess I'm a bit biased but ...it's really one of the most beautiful places for taking pictures as the views change (sky, sun, etc.) daily as well as seasonally.
You will get the best view on the ships in the harbor, and of the canal when you take one of the Paddan (boat) sight seeing tours.

I would love to come back and enjoy the views in the summer..
Opening hours at the restaurant: check the web site or call them.

However, if you have time, I would also suggest Skansen Kronan as it's in a very lovely area; harder to get to (it's at the top of a hill) but the views are lovely and it's in Haga.
A beautiful fortress offering nice views of the city, however, not easily accessibly for the public.

From above, on the museum veranda, you get a great view over the statue and down the main street towards the city center.
