The museum was extra interesting because our tour guide, Alex, walked us through pointing out the highlights and how they fit into what we had already toured at the original sites. - SJPW33Southampton, UK40 contributionsWe have done a few tours in European cities, which have all been good. But this one was the best. Our guide Tonia was amazing. She knew everything and everyone and we really felt like insiders rather than just visitors. Tonia’s English was fantastic and she was extremely entertaining. She did everything possible to make us feel special and help us learn about the food of the city she clearly loves. We actually saw how some of the food we tasted was made, which was so interesting. All the food was delicious and, although we have travelled for many years in Greece, we learned so much more in just a few hours about the country and the city’s food. I would thoroughly recommend this tour, but give one word of warning. DO NOT EAT BEFORE YOU GO! And pace yourself on the tour - you will not go hungry and you will eat some of the most delicious Greek food you have ever tasted. The trip was very relaxed while taking in several speciality fish, meat and veg markets. We had many opportunities to sample local delicacies and made a couple of extended cafe stops, with several dishes to try. Michael paced the experience well and explained the seasonality of produce and local food traditions. The difficult climb to Acropolis was made much easier due to Demos’s skillful ability to know when and where to stop for rest and discussion. Besides that everything was really well organized and all of the drivers were excellent.
