What travellers are saying
- Pigalle1966Cham, Switzerland489 contributionsAfter a ride through some heavy fog we couldn't believe that it was all blue up there. Amazing views 360 all around.Written 3 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jimmgc51Leeds, UK42 contributionsBeautiful scenery and experience walking alongside the water. Strongly recommend going first thing in the morning to avoid tour groups as the paths are narrow and getting past a big group can take a long time - we only got caught in one. The minibus wasn't running when we were there - we would have caught it back as the walk back to the car park is pretty monotonous, and gets harder in the heat. Overall really worth an early morning visit - the car park as well has a lot of spaces in the mornings but you'll have to slot onto the road later in the day. The cafe was a nice break and does tasty coffeeWritten 20 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- jomuckle66Grays Thurrock, UK734 contributionsLovely garden with fantastic views over the coastline. So many vibrant colours and and beautiful smell.
Nice and shady for a midday stroll.Written 5 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Pigalle1966Cham, Switzerland489 contributionsSmooth and nice ride with great views. You really have to take this trip if you're in Funchal or nearby.Written 3 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Joanna M84 contributionsBeautiful mountains, not to see anywhere else in Europe. The path isn't easy but not extremely difficult either. You gotta go up and down and up again couple times. There are couple of tunnels too!Written 15 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- otolithSouthend-on-Sea, UK1,721 contributionsWe did the tour of the Fajã with Fatima, our knowledgable guide. This was an amazing location made even better through the well paced and well-organised tour of the property. Fatima spoke great English, was friendly and engaging, especially with our 4-year-old boy, whom she involved in the tour and kept interested for the entire 2 hours. At the end of the tour, there fas fruit tasting at the on-site restaurant.
The teleférico ride down was breathtaking. The lushness and diversity of the farm was amazing. The rental properties immaculately preserved. The fare at the restaurant top class (all ingredients used grown at the property, where possible, and all organic).
Top tip: try the Surinamese cherry ice-cream. The perfect finish to this great tour.
Thank you Fatima! You are an asset to the Fajã!Written 18 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - alohatripperHonolulu, HI1,323 contributionsUpon seeing this beach with multiple pools, I thought of a water park, man-made and an admission charge. Of course, none of us were interested in swimming, or even getting wet. This swimming pool area is fun for the kids, and anyone looking for a destination for safe, monitored swimming.
One half of the area is through a ticket booth area. Entry is 3E.
We didn't realize that our lunch venue would be just above.Written 23 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - FlattlinerManchester, UK15 contributionsWe were staying in Câmara de Lobos and decided to walk up...
Please don't attempt this unless you are pretty fit - it's very steep towards the top and we got a taxi back!Written 30 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Silvia AntunesLisbon, Portugal25 contributions
It was a beautiful walk. The difficulty level is low, the path is very well protected, not recommended for children. We passed through 3 caves, but they are easy to go through, it is advisable to take a flashlight or use the light of the cell phone. As the path is wet, it is necessary to pay attention to the shoes not to slip.Written 4 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - MahedFrankfurt, Germany2 contributionsIts a perfect and fresh levada to make on the very hot days on Madera, I definitly recomend it! Seats to sit and chill out and watch time pass by.Written 25 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Joanna M84 contributionsA beach with the most exciting view in the whole island. It is not sheltered so not the safest but definitely a fun!Written 15 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Sharon ElliottLondon, UK79 contributionsThe trip up there on the bus is good and the gardens were good for Madeira. There are toilets on site too. Very quiet and tranquil. Don't waste your time in the cafe though - extremely expensive and shocking coffee! Food looked very dry and overpriced too.Written 30 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jon NSinga2,583 contributionsWe visited here in March 2022, and arrived at the carpark before 7am hoping to catch the sunrise. Unfortunately, it was too cloudy on that day. We started to do the PR8 Verada da Ponta de São Lourenço hike to the lookout at Miradouro Ponta do Furado. It was a leisure 2.5 hours walk from the carpark (including many stop for photos an flying drone) to reach the lookout point. Would definitely recommend people to do this hike while in Madeira. But try to come early as the place gets crowded on our way back to the carpark at around 130pm.Written 23 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
