It seems the done thing when in Lisbon is to take a tram to a view point. All of them have little cafés where you can grab a coffee and a pasteis de nata (custard tart), which is always welcome. The view from here was pretty good and on such a sunny day as was the day we went, it was really lovely.

Stretching from the Plaza de Pombal to the Plaza de Recueltos this is the main boulvard of Lisbon and perhaps the most prestigious boulevard in the whole of Portugal. There is everything here from tiny bars to luxury hotels and embassies. The Avenue itself is like a dual carriageway with a tree lined central reservation providing both shade in Summer and an area to walk if you dont want to window shop and are keen on avoiding the rather uneven pavements in some places. It is also wide enough to accomodate some cafes and stalls. Word of warning - cross the road at crossings; the traffic is fast and takes no prisoners!!

It is a grand entrance to the lower city. Walk through the gate and you feel a bit special. There are hotels along the way, some shopping and places to eat. Do not eat here as the restaurants are traps, but it is a good walk.

A very cute corner of Lisbon, very central and close from many iconic spots. It's worth the visit because of the view and great place to take some photos

Fountains and monuments and also close to the elevator that takes you upwards by about 5 floors. Naive to walk through and take some photos.
