This museum is fairly small, but you will need some time for the guided tour by the enthusiastic owner, who wrote a book on the history of light. He takes you through the different stages of lighting, with candles, oil lamps, improved oil lamps, street lanterns, petrol lamps, clock-based fuel-release mechanisms, improved wind-up mechanisms, and finally light bulbs. His Dutch was good enough to make me understand most, my French good enough to pick up a little more.
