Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Inez VBoom, Belgium15 contributionsThis was again a great experience for us!! Different kinds of music with people from all over the world. Great atmosphere and great food đź‘ŤWritten 20 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- danielle h4 contributionsI wasn't expecting them to be so spaced out so navigating them all was quite difficult, however once on the main markets they are very good. The hot chocolate was reasonably priced at €4 and a good selection of stalls to browseWritten 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brittany_11_10Los Angeles, CA1,859 contributionsWhat a delight to just happen upon the Gent Festival! (Admittedly, when planning our trip, we hadn't come across this, so it was such a nice surprise when we arrived.) We caught the tail-end of it, but wow, the city was alive with live music and other performances (a beat boxer performing out the open window of...some building...was a highlight); food and beer vendors galore; a huge children's area (in Koning Albertpark) with bounce houses, arts and crafts, live performances, more food and drink vendors...Written 10 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sean101 contributionsThe best lineup I’ve ever seen at a festival, big hitters Arctic Monkeys and Red Hot Chilli Peppers sounded great and both had great presence. The best smaller act I enjoyed was Kid Kapichi. I was disappointed with Kasabian, maybe over the hill now.
Festival was better organised in lots of ways than UK ones - such as always having toilet paper and keeping queues moving. The camping system is utterly braindead though. Cramming people in for short bursts creates unnecessary arguments and messed us up as a big group.
I found people to be a little bit spiky in crowds for no reason. Very strange, basically childish attitude to people walking through, dancing and jumping. Incredible entitled to think you can dictate these things in a crowd of 40,000. Even witnessed one person tell someone to stop smoking - grow up soft lad.
I would definitely come back in the future for a similar lineup.
Massive shoutout to the locals, bar and camp staff. Great side quests with the lot of them, really lovely people with a good sense of humour. Old lad got us pints when our cards wouldn’t work and barman put a discount on our tab.

I`ve been there several times and it is always mindblowing how bad the large German festivals are in comparison.
- Parking is close and well organized
- Food and drinks are available without queuing for an hour
- plenty of toilets
- free water
- getting wrist bands and security check simply work
- no curfew at 10pm (sometimes even the main acts play till after 2am!)Written 4 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Tudor VechiuRotterdam, The Netherlands7 contributionsOverall a good experience but the parking issue is recurring each year and they seem to not do anything about it. The event itself is amazing, you get to watch your favorite drivers and team in action, and there's plenty other entertaining activities, such as historic af1 presentations, F2 and F3 racing events and concerts.
But when it comes to getting there and leaving the site, it is absolutely terrible. We had tickets for the Green Zone but this is happening in all areas. Fridays are slightly better, since it's only practice day and there are not so many visitors. But Saturday we spent 3h to exit the parking and another 45 min to reach the highway, and another 3h 40min to exit the parking and 30 min to reach the highway on Sunday. Everything gets jammed and there's nobody to coordinate the cars when exiting. So be prepared to lose a lot of time.
The minimum they could do since this issue is not new is to put some eco toilets in the parking but that doesn't happen either.Written 6 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The floral display of the Peacock is stunning as are the willow sculptures and the Pieter Bruegel scenes on boards around the grounds.Written 10 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - juju1966Bradford, UK80 contributionsMy wife and I went to pukkelpop, the music was varied and excellent, the staff helpful and kind, My wife's disabled and they were great.
But...
The food was expensive all paid by tokens, burger 4 tokens, chips 1 token waffle, remember it's belgium, 1 token. cost of tokens 15 euros for 5. €12 for a burger!!
I totally recommend it, if you're disabled don't be put off, let them know, go and enjoy itWritten 20 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This was sort of on purpose (my friend and I are 35 and thought it sounded like more of a party than we could handle DURING the festival). That said, we referred to Gent as "Post Apocalyptic Ghent"...it was DEAD when we got there and by the time we left, the stages were still barely torn down and the city was still covered in trash (understandably). I think I had the wrong vision of the festival (I'm from Chicago so I pictured Lollapalooza cleanup...which is basically the city cleaning up one park while everyone else functions in a normal way). Ghent was entirely SHUT DOWN and recovering from what seemed like the most awesome festival on the face of the earth. We were in Ghent for 3 days, and they still had barely recovered. So either 1) Go for the festival or 2) Wait a few weeks until AFTER the festival to visit.
It's obviously an amazing city. No doubt. But know your scene before you show up in July, because you might not like it in that month! (or you might LOVE it!!!!!)Written 7 August 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The people from Aalst party 3 days on the streets and in bars. The music sounds happy and is sang in their own dialect. People from Aalst all know the songs by heart.
On tuesday the locals dress up as "Voil Janet", which is a phenomenon in Aalst.
I go every year on sunday and always have a lot of fun, my girlfriend is from Aalst and she goes three days :) last year she got home three times around 8 in the morning so if you wanna party hard you are in the right place!Â
good hint: if you wanna stay the whole night and if you wanna go dressed up, make sure your costume is big enough so you can wear a lot of warm clothes underneath your costume, because at night it gets cold that time of the year. We always wair 2 pair of socks, two or three pair of thermal underwear, good shoes, bring a rain coat or wear it underneath your costume so you dont get wet if it rains, ...Written 7 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yaakov GAddis Ababa, Ethiopia3 contributionsDour Festival is a 5 day festival located in the South of Belgium.
The Festival is known for its high quality music and insane lineup each year. This has been my third time at the festival and each year it gets better and better. From the camping sites, to the festival itself and all it has to offer.
The festival is pretty hardcore but if you come with the right energy the rawness of this festival will consume you and your friends to what is the ultimate festival experience. Most of the people at the festival speak French which might be overwhelming but after you get used to it the language barrier is actually funny and enjoyable. Dour is a true hub for music lovers from all sorts, 9 stages, 250 artists and great vibes. most highly recommended.Written 1 August 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KufundaHarare, Zimbabwe341 contributionsWe were passing when we saw a picture of an ape with a caption among other photos on a street corner, and lo and behold, we had stumbled on a Banksy art exhibition in a warehouse-looking building!
This exhibition is one of the highlights of our Brussels visit, with so many moments of reflection and laughter. The display is eye-catching, with thought-provoking themes and decor to enhance Banksy's work. There is a small shop to buy prints and other souvenirs. If you are a Banksy fan-this is, without doubt, value of money.Written 6 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
