Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Whilst a previous reviewer may be correct in pointing out that lots of places are loads on Sunday, if you aren't interested in shopping then this shouldn't be too much of an issue. There are plenty of interesting things to see in this town which are open on Sunday, such as the churches. And you can admire the beautiful green buildings!

The Bern Minster contains many interesting architectural and artistic features. The stained glass windows are very intricate!

The seat of Swiss power is pretty royal-looking, situated at the UNESCO World Heritage Site designated downtown of the Swiss capital. The view of the city from the back of the building is also a sight to behold. Don't miss it!

Unfortunately I didn't have time to take a tour inside since I went late afternoon, and there was a climate protest in front of the capitol when I visited.

After visiting the Bear Pit, we found a walk down to the river. At some point we headed up to the Botanical Garden. We missed most of the flowers, but we truly enjoyed the layout of the gardens and walking up and down the hillside while enjoying the beautiful collection of trees, plants, and flowers.

We would have easily given this museum five stars, but with absolutely no air conditioning during horrendous summer heat - which would better preserve the apartment and its original furniture - the interior is brutally hot in July! It’s difficult for visitors to enjoy the history in such conditions.

Regardless, it is a fascinating preservation of the tiny second-floor apartment Albert Einstein and his long-suffering wife Mileva shared with their infant son for four months in 1905. It was during this brief timespan that the famed scientist developed his most famous equation E = mc^2 that had profound effects on nuclear physics.

The museum is a rare Swiss facility that actually provides information in English, which was greatly appreciated by all guests. Above the Einstein’s preserved apartment on the second floor, the third floor which was originally unrelated to their history was added to the museum to provide information about the scientist’s life without interfering with the layout of their former living space. That is a wide decision.

This statue is rather different! No chance this kind of thing would be built today in our uber-sensitive times! Worth stopping by.

Once upon a time, this was the fishing district. It can be seen very well from the Münsterplattform as it is located at river level.

Bern is a very enchanting and interesting city. We had only one day to walk around and discover this city. Walking down the Main Street is exciting with the clock tower and waited for the clock to strike the hour, and all the quaint stores along side. We visited the outside of the Bundeshaus or federal building and the cathedral which was awesome in architecture and history. We also got to see one bear! I will come back again to visit the museums and other attractions.

They are all beautiful and interesting. In the early 90's, the sound of the water fountains in Bern remembered you how bored can be a traditional Swiss city on Sunday's afternoon. Today the activity have change and I cannot say if by nostalgy or by age, I miss now the old times where the only noise of the downtown was reduced to their water falling in those not too cold days

Schutzenbrunnen is in Bern & on the old town main street. Above a small fountain, a statue depicts a marksman holding a banner & a bear aiming a firearm. The fountain is nice & the statue is nice too. It's near the old clock tower. This is a part of the Bern city tour.

The church is located near the river and looks very nice. There is also a very interesting bronze door.
