Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- scvroseFiddletown, CA1,305 contributionsGreat views of a beautiful lake and snow capped mountains behind it. A tourist town for sure, but worth walking around the lake and the marinas. We took a boat ride on the lake, but it was fairly foggy.Written 17 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Navigate0389543070721 contributionsAbsolutely stunning location. We got the funicular from Zermatt up to the Matterhorn. There is a restaurant which is great for having a drink whilst admiring the stunning view. You can walk to a small lake designed for families, with bbq areas and picnic benches. There is a walk down to Zermatt which we unfortunately didn't have time to do as we were on a tour. Zermatt itself is very busy and extremely expensive as you would expect but this trip was about the amazing scenery.Written 27 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wood77Los Angeles, CA3,426 contributionsLucerne’s Mt Pilates is 7000 feet tall. We took the cogwheel railway up to the summit. The gradient of around 48 percent is supposedly the steepest cogwheel railway in the world. The ride took around half an hour. We passed alpine meadow, clouds, tree line, striking rock formations, then reached a rather barren summit. From various observation areas, you can see the Swiss Alps. Though Lucerne was below, the dense cloud cover prevented us seeing it. There were restaurants and souvenirs shops. The summit has the shape of a face. There are paths that take you up higher to the chin and to the nose. Unfortunately the video about Mt Pilates was closed that day. The shape of the building and the gondola station looked like it was from James Bond’s 1969 film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” However looking it up on the internet indicates that this wasn’t the mountain.Written 24 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cindy JEdgerton, WI12 contributionsAmazing!! Many options available on the ride up and down to the Gomergrat. Check the weather ahead of time. We had pretty good views of the Matterhorn with a few clouds moving through.Written 28 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - aayushthakralNew Delhi, India58 contributionsReally enjoyable place about 50 minutes of train ride from Zurich.
The highlight is the platform viewing point. You need a ticket of 5CHF to access this platform. It’s right next to the castle. The ticket also gives entry to the castle.
You get lots of great photographs across different points as you walk towards the platform. At some of the points closer to the fall, you can feel the mist from the fall coming onto your face.
After you cover the platform, there is a trail for a circular walkway. You walk along the Rhine river and it’s a pretty scenic walk.
There is a longer path and there is shorter path. We took the shorter one - even though it is rated 1 hour, we took almost 1.5 hours. All in all, we spent over 3 hours here and it all seemed worth it.Written 8 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The fondue was delicious and so was the rest of the chicken dinner. The white wine was excellent. In addition, the entertainment was enthusiastic and engaging- just two gentlemen with an endless variety of instruments including the alpine horn. The views were spectacular. Quite a sunset.Written 27 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GlobetrotterBellaSan Antonio, TX2,336 contributionsTook the gondola up. They do pack it with every human that can fit. It takes about 10 min to ride and up and it’s very hot in there. The gondola runs every 30 min.
Once up there, you have beautiful views of interlaken. They have a restaurant up there too. We had fondue.
This activity can be quick (30-60min up there). If you eat there, add 60 min to the time you plan to spend up there. We went early and it wasn’t as crowded as I heard it could get.Written 26 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a charming impressive wooden bridge with many paintings about Swiss history located up in the roof supports. Part of the Chapel bridge caught fire and was rebuilt. It is an easy walk on the bridge which takes you toward Schwanenplatz, near the old town. The central railway station is short walk on the opposite side of the river.Written 19 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - permiaIreland65,886 contributionsFortunate that it was a perfect day for being beside the wonderful Lake. All day blue sky reflected in the water’s shimmering blue.
It was delightful walking along the promenade at the water’s edge. And also seeing it from many vantage points throughout the visit.Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It certainly didn't disappoint me, and was an impressive place that was worth the trip all the way from East Asia.Written 26 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
