The gallery itself is an okay experience, but I thought the flow and way it was set up was sort of weird and didn't make too much sense. You walk through a long hallway with statues and then go to side rooms with Renaissance paintings, so you're constantly flipping back and forth between eras. Also, the plaques next to each piece of artwork and statue don't provide any meaningful information at all so most of the time you have no historical context to help you understand what you're looking at.

The Louvre is a much better experience and if you've been there before, you might find this gallery disappointing.

The view from Piazzale Michelangelo is stunning. Its a really great place to see Florence from above, and to enjoy great views of this beautiful city ! The second time we visited, we had a drink at the café on the edge of the viewpoint, and were pleasently surprised by the prices. The first time we visited (on a sunday at lunch time), there was a oldtimer "meeting" with old cars and motorcycle which was quite nice. I dont know if we were lucky, or if this is something that happens every sunday.

First time visiting the beautiful gallery and this iconic works recognized statue! It was definitely as advertised, as the David stands tall in the gallery. An absolute must do, as there are also some other very cool art work to see there!

Beautiful outside. However, the price to enter was a bit steep and the line too long for our tired bodies. We've been in side dozens of old cathedrals, so we skipped this one. We were there on a Saturday, so it might be less crowed during the week.

Breathtaking inside and out an absolute marvel a stunning piece of architecture. We climes the Dome and the bell tower. Not a task to be taken lightly but definitely worth the climb. Spectacular views of Florence from the top.

Stunning building. It should be a priority for your visit. Don't forget the Golden Doors at the Baptistry.

Very nice place to visit, but the admission ticket is just too expensive – especially when compared to the price of other attractions in Florence.

I would storngly advice viisting the Cupola, to get a better view of the ceuiling of it, and a great view of the city. Note that you'll have to climb the more than 400 stairs and that only the Brunelleschi ticket (30€) gives access to the Cupola.

This is the museum for me in Florence. The amount of masterpieces is extraordinary and seeing Madonna Della Seggiola by Raphael in real life, WOW!!

Tip: You can easily reserve a ticket via their website. Saves a lot of time when your there.

We sat in the garden below the church in a little field of daisies. We spent hours here eating strawberries, chatting, napping and listening to music. This is FREE (that is for you college students) and was probably one of the best things I did on my whole vacation.

This museum has been totally upgraded and re-staged over the last several years. The display of art work is far more coherent, and the far easier to appreciate than the former, somewhat hodge-podge display. I was very impressed with the improvements. It’s no Uffizi, but it is definitely worth a visit.

Waited quite a bit to enter the tower but it was worth it. I wish they had better signage to point you towards the top level as the stairs are sometimes hidden within the columns. If you are sensitive to loud noises, I would not recommend going during the middle of the day as I did (at noon). The views were incredible from every level, and totally worth going up the steps. I would mention, for anyone claustrophobic, it does get very tight towards the top.

My enjoyment of this museum was predicated on a couple of things. First, I had the benefit of downloading to my iPhone beforehand a free walking tour of the museum from Rick Steves Audio Europe, which went a long way towards educating a fine art novice like myself, why the frescos and altarpieces I was looking at were Important art treasures.
Secondly, I had watched the Netflix drama Medici, whose second season featured the historical character Savonarola, a former resident of the Convent and thorn in the side of the Medici family, whose living quarters are featured on the upper floor of the museum.
Both of these background sources if you wish to access them may help the casual visitor.
If you use the suggested audio tour, which is just under an hour long, reserve some additional time to read the posted narrative signs and enjoy exhibits not especially featured in the tour. I had only allocated a bit over an hour to see the museum, and wished I had allowed for more.
The 8 euro admission cost is a relative bargain.
