I do not think the Conti store is open any more. It is not in the Central Market. I sent some emails from their web page which is still active but I had no response to 2 emails. I asked about them in the Central Market and I was told that they went out of business. I always patronized Conti and Baroni when I went to the market. They were right next to each other. A new store is there now.
If they are somewhere else I’d like to know.

My wife and I booked an individual cooking class with Chef Vary with a view to better understand Tuscan cooking and especially the use of seasonal vegetables. We are OK with pasta, so we went with the vegetarian option. What a treat! We arrived to a couple of crates of seasonal vegetables, artichokes, for example as well as celery, onion, garlic, carrot, herbs, eggplant, and almost out-of-season cherry tomatoes and more.

After a discussion about expectations and ideas, and a plan, we put on the aprons, washed our hands, and "let's get started". We were quickly put to work under Vary's watchful eyes and clear directions. The learning curve was fun (I have cooked for many years, my wife less so) and we had fun slicing and dicing, mixing, cooking a lovely "dance" around the large prep table.

Somewhere in the middle (it was late morning) a glass of Prosecco arrived, and timely indeed as husband Eduardo joined us - they really are a wonderful husband and wife team. Conversation and involvement was excellent all the time.

We finished with a wonderful meal, mostly prepared by us, Vary kept an eagle eye on the cooking and timing and a bottle of red on the table. Delicious.

The Alimentari has a lovely atmosphere, the service and ambience is friendly and informative from food to wine to shared experiences around the world.

    Highly recommended.

Wonderfull! The bartender knows his job, lovely. The gps location doesnt match: it is not in the small street, but next to the big market. See the picture.

We went twice as it was great for wine and platters of food to nibble on. Loved the cantoncini biscuits with vino santo!!!

A lucky find! Fellow travellers told us of this place tucked away close to the Zaza trattoria in Florence. It provides 'wine to go' at the very economical price of 1 euro for a generous cup full. Most of the wine is from wine boxes but there is plenty of choice and the cheerful owner (?) will willingly make helpful suggestions. A lovely way to begin the evening! Photo on Facebook.
