We went to savoca and had brunch at bar vitelli and the church. We were well received by the host and great refreshing wine. After a brief presentation, wine and lunch, we left satisfied to proceed to Taormina. The tour lasted around 3 hours and there was lots of off-road driving. We stopped at one of the craters for 10/15 mins to walk around and use the toilet if needed. The organizors helped us to find the right tour, as this day was a special occosion to us.
Our guide, Danilo was very nice, passionate, attentive and well-prepared.
The Etna Wine and Alcantara tour was a very good combination of experiencing and learning about an active vulcano, and enjoying local products and have a nice time in a special place.

We had about 9 days in Sicily and had this scheduled for our last day. I was traveling with my husband and two boys (15 and 12). We learned so much about the history and geology of Etna and enjoyed a fairly easy hike (wish I'd had brought better gripping shoes). Davide was our guide and he was knowledgeable and personable and picked us up at our hotel in Taormina. We had a private tour which was really nice and didn't encounter crowds or many other people at all. - tmarvelousNew York9 contributionsAgusto, our tour guide and driver for the day, was absolutely wonderful. He made us feel comfortable from the moment he met us at our hotel in the morning. Knowing in advance our concern about heights he checked on us throughout the trip to make sure we were okay. (For anyone reading this with a fear of heights, there's nothing to be afraid of on this tour.)
Agusto was so passionate and knowledgeable and we learned so much about the geology and volcanology of not only Mt. Etna but also much of the region and even all of Sicily (it's very interconnected).
The visit to the winery at the end was the icing on the cake. Even without it the tour would have been great but the wines, food, and location were excellent.

We want to say how much we enjoyed it and found it so informative and intriguing. We are not aficionados of theGodfather movies but that didn't matter as we were introduced to some fascinating places and historical facts from our accommodating guide, Dan. He was such a friendly fellow who did not rush us or made us feel we were holding up his itinerary.
