The gondola ride was the highlight, offering a unique and peaceful way to see the canals. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, but I wish the tour had included a bit more time for exploring on our own. You get 2 hrs in Burano and is a beautiful town, great food options, traditional Burano cookies and their famous lace. Launched from a number of points the price doesn't vary, so pick your spot and set off for a peaceful ride. From la Giudecca, near to San Marco, we made a complete tour of these romantic islands featuring the sunset. - shclawsonDeale, MD28 contributionsWe love the ferry boat that operates between Venice and Murano. It’s easy to find at Venice, the cost is low, and the water is typically calm. The trip to Murano is 20-30 minutes, depending on the amount of other boat traffic and whether to boat stops at the island cemetery and/or cathedral (each worth a visit). Then your rewards are great photo opportunities from the boat and visiting Murano, a quaint island community of homes, shops, glass-blowing, and a museum. The residents are welcoming. The only thing we’ve noticed recently is that prices for glass and other items have increased quite a bit. It seems that Asian and perhaps other visitors are willing to pay more. However, bargaining usually is welcomed and will reduce your costs significantly.

This was a great starting point in Venice that allowed us to learn about the city and fill in any gaps in our itinerary. When we didn't have something scheduled, I was always consulting this tour to see what was nearby and learn more about the wonderful history. Adair adjusted our stops and offered substitutes for those who needed them. - Brian918Louisville, Ky54 contributionsWe watched several of this companies Youtube videos before booking a guided tour during our recent trip to Venice. The videos were great and gave us a good idea of what we should not miss. We did schedule a half day guided tour, which included a gondola ride. We met our guide, Ellena, and were off for the day. She began with an overview and history of Venice. Ellena then took us on a guided tour of St. Mark’s Basilica. As native Venetian, she knew so much about the historical background and was able to explain many of the paintings we saw on the outside and inside of the building. After that, we went on a “City walk” and she explained day to day life in Venice both in past and current times. After this she arranged for our gondola tour and we had a brief stop for lunch. After lunch, we toured Doge’s Palace. Again, without her historical background and explanations, we would have missed out on so much.
