We went early to beat the crowds… can’t imagine what it’s like at peak visiting hours. It’s very interesting, and worth the visit. But be prepared to have your personal space invaded. You get taken down in groups, guide was very knowledgeable. Very interesting tour amazing place and quite moving to think how many people were buried there. We were attending the opera Turandot here at the Baths, so we had a little time before the event to explore a bit, and see some of the magnificent structures. Holding special shows here is a great way to repurpose the grounds. Especially, if you think you have already seen all of ancient Rome. This part of the palace of emporer Nero is made available to the public with guided tours and supplemented by VR-presentations. Very impressed with it, lots to see and lots of history and information. It is located near Termini station, a short walk from Museo Nazionale Romano, Palazzo Massimo alle Terme, another, larger branch. In the main building, there are exhibitions on Roman writings and statues. - eja117New England733 contributionsFelt very safe, but maybe not 100% as it is an open area with zero police/security presence. Would definitely do it again. I think it may be possible to get to the Catacombs from within this park. A very nice place. A bit out of town, which required a taxi in both directions for us. Perhaps there is a bus or subway that I didn't know of. Free. Good to get some exercise with some shade. I don't recall seeing any food options, but I didn't look very hard. There are a few different aqueducts of different sizes. Some of them you can get close to. The church was closed for the summer break when I visited.
