Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Zem Yoga is a tranquil, magical and all round stunning studio to practice yoga.

If you’re in Rome and looking for a yoga studio, this is definitely the one you should pick.

The teachers are wonderful, having practiced with 5 teachers at Zem, they’re all exceptional, giving body ques and corrections if needed. The classes range in capabilities and are inclusive of all levels of yoga.

The studio offers a warm welcome to Rome, with the beautiful community that has been built in the studio by Amity.

I am forever grateful to have stumbled upon this studio, and has made every trip I have to Rome.

First, I want to start by saying this is one of the nicest spas I've ever experienced. They pride themselves in maintaining their reputation as one of the finest spas in all of Europe. The common areas included a male-only and female-only sauna, a co-ed steam room with an icy plunge pool, and a perfectly warm jacuzzi tub--which were all wonderful! (Note: only the jacuzzi tub is safe for expectant mothers). Had we not cared to sight-see in Rome, we could have easily spent hours on end enjoying the amenities. There was a whole other wing (indoor pool with fireplace, gym, etc.) we didn't even get to explore!

Since we were on a "babymoon" trip, we decided to splurge on a couple's massage (and with every correspondence, we made sure to inquire about what would/wouldn't be possible with me being pregnant). The staff was friendly and professional and we received a wonderful overall experience.

My husband definitely had the superior full-body massage. The masseuse noticed the tension in his neck and shoulders and spent extra time helping to relax those muscles in addition to working on the rest of his body.

My massage, on the other hand, was a little more hit-and-miss. I believe that had I not been 7-months-pregnant at the time, I would have received an excellent massage. Although we did a lot of research beforehand and the spa assured us multiple times that their staff was trained in and could accommodate a prenatal massage, I found that not to be the case.

The rest of the review is just a note to other expectant mothers thinking about getting a massage here. Upon arrival, I was directed to lay flat on my back on a very hard surface (not particularly safe nor comfortable while pregnant). I was only given one towel to support my head/neck--nothing was provided to support my back/belly or a side-lying position. In our 50-minute appointment, about 30 minutes was spent on my legs and feet--which felt wonderful... but I was wanting, expecting, and paying for a FULL BODY massage! The 10-minute arm massage included applying pressure to the heel of my hand (a pressure point used to induce labor)--but it seemed like she quickly remembered that was a no-no on her own and moved on to other areas. She then started in on a face massage--my back would not have even been touched had I not stopped the facial and asked specifically to turn over and have her work on my back during the remaining 10 minutes of the massage. After laying flat on my back for so long, I was in peril of leaving in significantly more back pain than when I entered. Again, the masseuse was very kind and accommodating when I spoke up--so part of the problem was definitely me not advocating more for myself/my needs during the massage, but based on the prior assurances, I wasn't planning on needing to be the one to direct the massage. My main disappointment is with being assured multiple times that they could provide a quality prenatal massage when clearly my experience proved otherwise.

Overall, this spa is a 5+ star experience. However, if you are pregnant, don't bother.

The hammam and massage was soothing, relaxing and rejuvenating, everyone working there is welcoming and helpful. Can't wait to attend a yoga class there! The atmosphere is so calming and peaceful that its hard to believe you're only a few minutes walk from Circo Maximo and the Colosseum.

A true master of his craft. After 20 years of experience as an on-again off-again yoganista and Pilates fan, I can really say that Alessandro is a very gifted teacher. I was in Rome for a week, and attended several classes, as each gave me even more energy for sightseeing! Language is not a barrier, and the other participants are also friendly and welcoming. Stringent hygiene rules were in place. Highly recommend.

I took a fabulous flow class with Yoss in his beautiful space. It is clean and full of light, on the top floor, with windows all around and a view of Villa Borghese. There is a small space to gather before and after class for tea with friendly yogis and yoginis, as well as a changing area. The class itself was expertly taught, with clear verbal cues and a few gentle assists from Yoss, with a perfectly eclectic soundtrack. The class was in Italian, but Yoss speaks English and would be happy to welcome you. Give yourself the gift of a yoga break!
