Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- happy n8 contributionsThat feeling of finding the perfect spot to light-up a blunt gotten from ganjatravels|.|com is amazing.
The Parque del Retiro is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. We always visit each time we come to Madrid.Written 11 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We did the two hour audio tour and while we enjoyed it very much we felt like we were going here and there and back and forth. We wish that it just went from room to room in order as we were often confused about how to get to the next painting on the list. Also some of the paintings were not where they were supposed to be on the guide. We had to ask and they were either being restored or had moved to another room. It took us two and a half hours. We went on a Saturday and it was packed. I would highly recommend this museum by wish the guide was done in a different orderWritten 15 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DotsGirl2Vancouver, Canada610 contributionsWe did a tour through here but even if you came on your own it is worth it. The rooms are beautiful. There is so much to see in each one. Don’t forget to look up at the ceilings.Written 16 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Barbara BCounty Antrim, UK16 contributionsWe enjoyed window shopping, indulging in delicious tapas, and soaking up the lively street performances. As night fell, the lights transformed the street into a dazzling spectacle.Written 18 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karen CMelbourne, Australia98 contributionsJust a large Plaza with some nice architecture surrounded by cafes and shops. Close to the food market. Usual sellers selling things on tarps before the police come they swoop their bags in a walk off.Written 15 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shades100Newcastle upon Tyne, UK213 contributionsWe initially tried to access one of the free periods at this museum but with the queues were so long (and it was very heavy rain!) that the place would have been closed by the time we reached the front!!!
We booked online instead for the following day. Despite booking, we still had to queue in the rain for 45 minutes. The queue didn't seem to go any quicker than the one to buy tickets. Be sure to book on the official site. We paid 12 euros each but some sites are charging a lot more.
Once in we tried to prioritise what to see. After almost 3 and a half hours, we hadn't seen it all but were tired and ready for a snack! We really wanted to see Guernica but were astounded by how many hugely well known works were available. Unlike it many museums, you could get very close to each painting and take time to appreciate it. As well as works by Picasso, Dali and MirĂł, there were many artists from throughout Europe with whom we were unfamiliar. The temporary exhibitions were also included in our ticket.
It was a great visit and I'm not the most knowledgeable person about art!Written 9 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Set in the artist's exquisite villa you can learn about him and see many of his works.Written 25 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TrdConstanta, Romania8 contributionsThe Temple is beautiful and so is the scenery around. Best moment to visit is right before sunset, really amazing experience. It is free to visit BUT you need a ticket that nobody explains you how to get. When you get there you find a notice that you need reservation. You scan it and you find a ticket in 4-5 days...maybe...The guards are really strange and moody, they kept whistling at every kid that even touched the bord of the fountain while they allowed others (long after visiting hours) to go touch the gates, take photos on the stones. On their whim.Written 23 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sarah LLondon, UK3,659 contributionsThis is one of the main squares in Madrid and full of activity. It is encircled with an array of shops and always hosting some protest or another. It is also where the famous bear statue is and a hot spot for New Year's Eve.Written 10 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sally62Northampton, UK6,082 contributionsAn iconic landmark in Madrid, this intersection is surrounded by attractive buildings and has a huge fountain in the centre. Fantastic in the day but it is magnificent when illuminated at night. The former Communications building is now the Town Hall and on the opposite corner is the Banco de Espana. A meeting point for all major celebrations in Madrid when the roads are closed.Written 20 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karen LynnMalaga, Spain257 contributionsOne of the best museums in all of Spain and often overlooked by visitors. An amazing collection of artifacts that represent Spanish history through many eras. Really a must visit especially if you are interested in history and archeology. The building itself is beautiful too (and recently restored).Written 12 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BijitgohainNew Delhi, India61 contributionsBullfighting in Madrid
I recently on my travel to Madrid visited the Las Ventas to watch Bull fighting.
Where : Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, Madrid
How do you reach : Take the Metro to Ventas and once you come out of the station will see the arena
Event and Tickets : As I understood, the event happens on specific days, guess on Sundays only and towards the evening. Tickets are sold out in advance so book online. I was a bit lucky, although it was a full house , outside the arena I person sold me 2 tickets for 50 euros each , original price being about 44 euros...not a bad deal. Also ticket prices vary basis your seat
Seating: Once you enter the arena, pretty well marked is the gate you have to approach and there are guides who show you your seat. Please note you are sitting on concrete and rent cushion for about 2-3 euros from within the arena.
Experience: A packed house of people, electrifying atmosphere - looking at the age group seems it's so much part of the culture. The event i witnessed had 4 -5 fights, and to be honest the initial 1-2, I was excited as it was my first visit but then on it starts getting boring as it's the same thing being repeated again and again and again. but for sure if in Madrid a check mark activity one should do in a lifetime.Written 18 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. What struck me is recently when I went back through all of my travel photos, I didn’t realize I had taken over three dozen photos in the museum and how stunningly gorgeous the rooms (and photos) were.
Incredible artwork, including Greco. Gorgeous tapestries and frescos on the walls and ceilings. Extensive collections from armor to books to pottery.
The entrance was magnificent with the marble staircases, artwork and chandeliers. The dining room, pool room, library, bedrooms and ball room all made for outstanding photos.
So understand this museum is not for all and certain friends I would advise to hit a tapas bar instead. However, some will really enjoy this former mansion and relish that the crowd inside is limited contributing to a very pleasant visit.Written 16 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
