There is a 5 Euro entrance fee to visit this rooftop bar but we had a pleasant time here taking lots of photos. Unfortunately when we went there was quite a bit of scaffolding around but it was January and they have to do maintenance sometime. There were not many people there at the time of our visit but maybe if visiting at a different time of year it would be advisable to book.

For those who cannot make it to Egypt this year, do make a trip to the Tutankhamun Exhibit, which includes a plethora of fine examples of Egyptian art, history and traditions. The exhibit is impressive given its scale, with a large swath of objects from various time periods and beautifully exhibited sets.
The exhibit is large scale and offers a glimpse into the awesome age of the power of Egypt.
IFEMA itself is easy to find and has plenty of parking.

I have been to this lounge several times, I am not sure how much renovation was done to it but it was certainly different and nicer on this recent visit. More seats, different types of seats and different areas to enjoy. Made my 3 hr layover very comfortable.

After getting our VAT Refund(make sure you scan your receipts prior to queuing up for the refund to save time and aggravation) we took the elevator up to the Cibeles Lounge. Nice for a quick bit sandwich, coffee and juice prior to boarding

During our short Madrid visit, we were looking for a place to have a coffee and have some rest. The cafe fulfilled our needs in that sense. Some details:
    Atmosphere: Quite nice, cosy
Menu: Simple foods (sandwich, tortilla, etc.) and drinks
Prices: Prices were average. We paid for a tortilla 2,5€ and for cappuccino something around 2€
Staff: They were kind but cannot speak English

All in all, nice cafe. If you are around, you can stop by.

It is and impressive office in a historic building in the beautiful Plaza Mayor de Madrid. But the lady that informed me was only interested in us going to the theatre.

I passed by this building when exploring Retiro Park. I understand it is a cultural centre to host exhibitions, theatre and concerts. It was closed when I was there. Nice to take a photo of its exterior.

Here on our Spain vacation from
Chicago, I finished my only reading book early into the trip. Googled this place and was impressed with their selection of English language fiction novels- a section of maybe 300 books...! Picked up Paula Hawkins’ “Into the Water” for about 10€. I went to the smaller location about two blocks off Gran Via- would suggest going to the main store, has probably an even larger selection.
