One of the places we visited on The Kids and Family Gothic Quarter Walking Tour with Runner Bean Tours was the Pont del Bisbe (The Bishop's Bridge). I recognized it from a previous trip I had made to Barcelona several years ago. I stopped to take a picture with my three grandkids (ages 13, 12, and 10) and then made sure we all walked backward under the bridge while looking up. Many legends and superstitions exist about the bridge, with one being that if you make a wish and walk backward under the bridge while looking up at the skull and dagger on the underside, your wish will come true. I hope so. If it works, I'll be back in Barcelona next summer on another trip. Another legend says that if the dagger through the skull is removed, the city of Barcelona will be totally destroyed. Although it’s actually not a bridge, but a covered walkway built in the 1920s connecting the Government Palace and the Canon's House, it is one of the most famous and most photographed spots in the Gothic Quarter. Pont del Bisbe is right around the corner from the old cathedral in the Gothic Quarter, so it's easy to find if you want to get a good photo opt.
