Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand4,468 contributionsCool repurposing of the former Barcelona bull-fighting arena. The exterior has a grand Moorish style appearance. The interior is where professionals take your money in various shops and restaurants.Written 16 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elisa HSan Juan, Puerto Rico69 contributionsMy visit to Mercat de Santa Caterina was absolutely fantastic! The market is vibrant and full of life, with a stunning array of fresh produce, local delicacies, and beautiful stalls. I loved wandering through the various sections, sampling everything from artisanal cheeses to delicious tapas. The colorful roof adds a unique charm to the market, making it a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
The vendors were friendly and eager to share their knowledge about their products, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I also appreciated the variety of food options available, catering to all tastes. Whether you're a foodie or just looking for a fun place to explore, Mercat de Santa Caterina is a must-visit in Barcelona. I can't wait to return on my next trip!Written 19 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ViaBenGreater London, UK899 contributionsNice, lively market selling a mix of cheap clothing, household goods, collectables, old knick-knacks, second-hand fashion, and fabrics.
The market has been around for seven centuries and is now located in a modern and beautiful building, with a shiny golden roof, and the atmosphere is busy and untouristy.Written 13 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We perhaps chose the wrong day being a Saturday so crowded lots of children, therefore noisy. On the whole we a mission for particular items but we side tracked and ended up spending hours & buying lots of things well beyond the planned items. Overall we enjoyed it. - Lena CLos Angeles, CA89 contributionsThis mercat is definitely less touristy compared to Mercat de la Boqueria. Customers are mostly locals. There are a few sit-down restaurants. Tried Pinotxo Bar…food is good & quick. Also bought fruits from Giro store. Not a bad choice to

- Barb TToronto, Canada258 contributionsMy sister and I went up to the 9th floor to enjoy the washrooms, and then we ate at the cafeteria, where you get an amazing view of the city. Took the elevators down to the basement and enjoyed the massive grocery store there, as well as free turron samples from Vicens. We purchased a small 250 ml tin of Los Aljibes extra virgin olive oil for 5 euros (which was 15 euros at the airport, so a great deal!). Grocery stores are awesome souvenir shops, lol. Also some La Rosera saffron in a glass jar for four euros. Great store to investigate after your hop-on hop-off bus tour of the city!Written 1 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Johan TBarcelona, Spain23 contributionsOne weekend per month there is this Palo Alto Market Fest in Poblenou with lots of stalls where designers sell their own stuff, lots of food trucks, drinks, live music and full of happy people of all ages. - MrMrsHappyRLiverpool, UK1,472 contributionsGreat shopping centre over 3 floors with a good variety of shops with a few restaurants and a supermarket. - Ms_R33480Palm Beach, FL745 contributionsThis is not a huge market but it has a good selection of meats, fish, vegetables, charcuterie, etc. And unlike many of the larger markets in the center of Barcelona this one doesn't cater to tourists, most of the shoppers are locals. There is even a wine stand that sells wine directly from the barrels.
Products tend to be fresh and of good quality and prices average for the area. The floor below the market holds Mercadona, a very large supermarket with everything one may need.
Try to have lunch at one of the several dinning areas, many of which are an extension of the merchant's stands, they have only a few tables, or in some cases you can eat at the counter. We had a great menu del dia at MB's in a corner of the market, attached to a butcher's shop with about 8 small tables. Good food, well prepared, three plates and a drink for 16.50 euros. The service was excellent, friendly and on top of everything, they actually cared that you enjoyed your meal.Written 3 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
