This is one of the biggest and best plazas we have visited in Spain, and we have visited many. The restaurants are not overly expensive which is quite unusual, often the centre has the priciest places.

If you are into clean European old towns and buildings then this is the place. WOW. If you come to Madrid I would recommend you do whatever you need to do car, bus, train, tour to get to this city. It is a wonder.

Arranged personal tour of Salamanca main sites with local guide. Ines provided excellent tour and information. Gave really good insight into the City and well worth the reasonable price.

The whole Salamanca Cathedral with all the parts is just an amazing place to
visit. For me it maybe the highlight of the 2 weeks travel this time to Spain.
We visited late at night and the illumination and view were just splendid.

The Lis collection is surprisingly good and this museum is an ideal size, taking about wo hours to view everything. Be sure to get to the cafe which has amazing views of the city.

First of all went on a Friday and it opens at 11. Cost about 6 each. Very nic, takes about an hour to visit. All of these churches have their unique features. This one uses a LOT of color.

By far the most interesting and particular historic site to visit!!!!
Incredible cloister, choir and unique staircase. Notice the chruch's altar piece columns that reproduce Bernini's baldachin at St. Peter's basilica in Rome.

What makes this cathedral very different than others is the obscure, almost hidden, figure of a modern-day astronaut among the medieval motifs carved into the facade over the entry. Jorge, our guide, cleared up the mystery. It, as well as a modern-day bicycle, were added much later in 1992.
Too bad that the memory of that overshadows the esthetics of the cathedral, especially the interior.

Atmospheric painting on a domed ceiling in quiet, darkened room. We were the only visitors. It would have been helpful to have more information about the picture and a guide to all the figures depicted, but there was something magical about the experience.

In this museum you'll find lots of old cars. We love cars and antiques one so we rally enjoyed this visit! Workers were very kind, and it's totally worth the money!
Psst, the entrance is free every first Tuesday of the month!

    We'll visit again soon, surely!

The exterior of this building is covered in scallop shells. It's very unique and in a good location for a quick viewing on your way to the cathedral.

Perfect end of the day visit.
The monastery is extremely peaceful - like an oasis in the hectic city life.
The light was ideal to admire the cloister and the garden.
After the visit bought some sweets from the nuns: delicious!

Well worth the climb to enjoy the great city views. There is a stop part way up providing a little history too.

The bridge dates from late first century CE. More than half of its arches are original. The importance of the bridge to the city is testified in the fact it has been part of the coat of arms of Salamanca since the 13th century.
