Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- WikumjRedhill, UK444 contributionsThe address for this is ‘Islet Hilario’ which is the building the tour leaves from. You don’t need to book in advance, you simply get on a bus on arrival to the car park. The bus tour is to see the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote. The tour itself takes around 45 minutes. This is immediately followed by a fire and geyser demo narration outside the building and opportunity to look at the chicken grilling on the natural hot stone ‘bbq pit’. There is also a large restaurant in the building.
The audio guide that plays during the bus is a bit dull (the changing languages doesn’t help) but the volcanic landscapes are worth seeing.
The entry fee to the park is quite steep (20 euro per person) and was paid at an outdoor checkpoint - we paid with cash, not sure if there was an option to pay by card.
Definitely recommend arriving early (9am) as on our way back there was a long queue of cars, and I don’t think the experience is worth a long wait queuing.Written 14 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We visited on a Friday afternoon in March and there were only a couple of spaces left. I can see why Papagayo beach is so popular - it’s sheltered from the worst of the wind, the water is bright blue and it’s sandy. However, there’s not a lot of space between groups of people, and no facilities other than 2 cafes on the clifftop. A short walk away we found another, less crowded beach, but it didn't have the natural shelter from the wind.Written 8 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WikumjRedhill, UK444 contributionsOne of the best things to do in Lanzarote, and one of the best 'cave tours' we have been in. This is a very large cave with a tour that lasts 50 mins - 1hour in total there and back. Book a time slot on their website (which can be done on the day itself). We paired it with a visit to Jameos del Agua which is nearby, and Mirador del Rio.
The cave itself was very tastefully lit to enhance the environment and with eery atmospheric music playing in the background. The path is very easy to walk on with not too many steps, although for those with a bad back note there is a section where you have to duck your head and bend slightly for 30 seconds or so. The guide was informative and engaging although we would have preferred an English only tour rather than them flipping between English and Spanish.Written 14 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pam WWrexham, UK6 contributionsThis was our first time in Playa Blanca, but we have been to Lanzarote previously. Our hotel, Timanfaya Palace, was lovely. We had a huge room with a balcony overlooking the pool area. We could see the sea through the palm trees and Fuerteventura in the distance. The hotel had direct access to a coastal walkway so great for walking to local bars, etc. The weather was perfect for us, about 20 degrees, with a slight breeze. Not really hot enough to go in the outdoor pools (although a few people did) but it had a heated indoor pool which was lovely. There were plenty of people in the sea at the nearby beach but we didn’t try it.
The food was all buffet, a huge choice, but none of it was “Wow” if you know what I mean. All perfectly acceptable, but not a particularly restful experience as you kept having to get up and go and fetch your next course. I prefer table service I suppose.
We did one excursion to the volcano, salt plains and El Golfo green lagoon , which was good apart from having to go around in the bus picking people up from different hotels. The guide was very informative.Written 23 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WikumjRedhill, UK444 contributionsFantastic and peaceful cactus garden, takes 30 mins to 1 hour depending on how quickly and thoroughly you want to go round it. Very unique and huge variety of different species, very tastefully designed and arranged. Fantastic views of the garden from the bowl-shaped sides.Written 14 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - barneybingHayling Island, UK39 contributionsGreat if you enjoy crashing waves and outworldly landscapes , high tide best time for big waves coming in from the Atlantic , some excellent little view points to experience the crashing waves , no barriers or hand rails and some uneven ground so keep hold of young children . Free to visit and plenty of parking , can get busy midday.Written 2 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deborah HSandbach, UK13 contributionsLovely walk along the coast. You need to follow your nose around the port, as we didn't see any signs. (Could have been some, we just didn't notice!) Some steps to negotiate so difficult for wheelchair users.Written 25 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lidija MZagreb, Croatia44 contributionsSand beach with plenty of little areas surrounded with rocks where you can put your towels and things. I suppose it is protection from the wind. Big waves ideal for surfers. Go in the middle of the beach where are no rocks in the sand in the water. Nice for the kids also.Written 4 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- David DDevon, UK29,009 contributionsWednesday 17th July we visited the small fishing village of El Golfo which sits on the edge of Praque Nacional de Timanfaya.
The main attraction hete is the Green Lagoon, El Largo Verde, which has been declared a Natural Reserve.
We parked up and started walking towards the pathway leading towards the viewing point overlooking the Lagoon. Along the way we stopped at Mirador Playa El Golfo.
We then continued along the coastal pathway which took to the viewing point which overlooks the rugged coastline that is home to El Largo Verde and Playa de los Clicos.
The lagoon sits in the crater of an extinct volcano and it's waters are green as result of the algaes at the bottom. The green water creates a striking contrast with the blue of the sky, the sea water and the black sands of Los Clicos.
The viewpoint is the best place to get the best views of this natural phenomenon. However it is possible to walk near the Lagoon along the beach, however, it is not possible to access the Lagoon as it is cordoned off.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
