There were five of us plus the guide. My husband and I were joined by another couple and a solo traveller, all fun and interesting people who made it a great night out. We definitely tried pintxos we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. - Colum A1 contributionStop searching. This is the tour you want and need. My wife and I had the great pleasure of touring with Jon around San Sebastián on what was billed as a Pinxtos foodie experience but was so much more.
Jon had curated a tour that took in the market and some incredible ingredients, the early Pinxots examples, through some sit down restaurants with plated Pinxtos and some bar hopping Pinxtos on the go. The food was incredible but more so was the history lesson Jon gave us about the region, the ingredients, the food style, the people that prepare the food and own the bars, the farming methods and the culture that really brought the whole thing together in such a wonderful way.
Jon is a wonderful host who clearly loves this region, the food and the people he comes across during these tours.
We cannot recommend this experience and Jon highly enough. We turned up thinking we were going to try some local food but left with an understanding way beyond our expectations.

I experienced multiple different pintxos and really enjoyed the selection designed by the tour. Asier (a native of Donostia San Sebastián) was very enthusiastic about introducing us to the food, wine, and culture of his city. I also greatly appreciated all the recommendations he gave on the side about which restaurants to go and what to experience after the tour as well as gifts/souvenirs to bring back home that are local to Donostia San Sebastián! Fabian was our guide and he spent two hours giving us tons of historical information about the city and pointing out interesting historical details as still seen today. - DJH43 contributionsAfter 2.5 weeks in Spain and Portugal both my husband and I rated our full day cooking class with Patricio at Mimo Bite the Experience as our favorite activity of the trip!! The day was so special starting with going to the market and picking up our seafood, meat, fruits and vegetables. The Mimo kitchen is a full on industrial sleek location that alone is just a delight to be in. We all helped to cook and although we consider ourselves to be quite familiar with recipes we learned so much and made dishes that we have never tried before. The price may seem steep but in this case you get what you pay for. If you are a foodie this is the class for you! Highly recommend to anyone who visits San Sebastian. You will go far beyond the pinchos the area is known for while you explore basque cooking. Our guide, Sandra took us to a variety of pintxos bars and introduced us to local specialties, food and wine, that we never would have known to order for ourselves. Afterwards she sent us an email detailing the places she took us, what she ordered (both in Spanish and English), and recommended many other places and specific food and drink…really a detailed guide to do more on own the next day. This was a treasure in and of itself! This tour was worth every penny, a great introduction to San Sebastián.
