Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Alter Strom is the inland waterway cutting thru town and once was the only shipping route to Rostock. Today there are many sightseeing boats vying for your custom. It's a lovely walk alongside numerous cafes and bars.

Nice, very wide and long beach to take a stroll along the water. This photo was taken right by the lighthouse. There is also a walkway that follows along the beach that includes toilets.

The lighthouse is located on the Unterwarnow, the estuary of the Warnow River. It began service in 1898 and was automated in 1978. It is open daily to visit and there are great views from the balcony.

A lovely resort, well served by transport links, with a rail station adjacent to the seaport and town centre. We liked the easy access to the beach, the fish quay and restaurants along the river estuary. A charming town that must come alive in the summer season - we visited in mid-September.

Went on a cruise-ship excursion from Warnemunde (Port of Rostock). The morning shore excursion was great - over to the university town of Rostock by tour boat up the river/estuary and back by bus. The medieval church and its astronomical clock were amazing (survived World War II) and the remains of the medieval city wall as a Hanseatic trading town were fascinating. I also was able to observe the remnants of post-war German reconstruction in a city in the former East Germany with first-hand commentary from the tour guide who grew up in the area under the Communist regime.

I really enjoyed the Culture Museum, there were a lot of activities for kids, fun for adults too, which made the information even more interesting.

Very nice zoo. We saw the polar bears get breakfast -very cool.

Nice big zoo. With interesting animals. The Darwinium is a mix of evolution and zoo exhibit. Ending in the primate in closures. Very interesting and well thought out.

Very interesting a good history of democratic German Republic, (East Germany). Quite somber and not for people that it will make feel uncomfortable. The signage is in German you could get a video guide on your phone in English or German. The narrator will warn you about some areas that might make you feel poorly and you can skip that. This facility was for political dissidents awaiting trial.

Omigosh... the first photo makes this fountain appear to be lifesize... so when we went looking for it, I expected each of the people to be tall... but, no, the people are each about the size of a hand! Well worth seeing, but we did have a good laugh when we stumbled upon it.

We wandered around Warnemunde before we headed north to see Schwerin Castle and Rostock.
We are particularly interested in the architecture of Europe and enjoyed this quick stop. It was not open when we were there.

The freight ship Dresden was built in Rostock in the 1950s, and is now a museum in Rostock harbour. All the decks are accessible, from the engine room, up to the bridge and captain's quarters. The lower decks are also like a traditional museum with exhibitions on the history of shipping, fishing and exploration in Rostock, Hanseatic cities and GDR. There is an Android App that plays audio (German or English) at numbered stops. It often crashed for me, however trying again and again, I was finally able to get it to work. Most (90%) written explanations in the museum are in German only, one new section had both German and English. There is a lift between decks, if you do not want to climb lots of steps. I spent over 4 hours in the museum and found it very interesting.

We stayed in Berlin for 3 days before going to Rostock/Warnemunde port to meet our cruise ship. Our ship was berthed for most of our first day there. Some folks took tours, some took train to Berlin(I think 3 hour train ride oneway!) and others walked around the Villages and shopped and stopped to eat. Lots to see and do in Rostock & Warnemunde.
