A jaw-dropping masterpiece! Even with a little "under construction" flair during my visit, this iconic beauty is an absolute must-see. It’s like meeting a celebrity who’s temporarily in a bathrobe—you know the full glamour is there, just waiting for the big reveal.

Already penciled in for a future encore. Paris, you irresistible charmer, I’ll be back! 🥖✨

This is a 23 hectare public park and gardens situated just to the south of the Luxembourg Palace in the 6th arrondissement. It is my favourite of the Paris city parks, providing very well landscaped grounds with numerous walking paths under the shade of mature trees.

You will find over 100 monuments scattered throughout, a grass lawn and basin with lovely manicured flowerbeds, terraces, cafe and plenty of quiet space, metal chairs to rest and attractive, quaint grounds throughout the Garden. It is a lovely place to spend a hour or two casually strolling or relaxing during visits to Paris.

Make sure you stop by and visit this beautiful cathedral and check out the views of the city. Be sure to make your way over to the square on the left of the church and check out all of the artists painting in the square.

Le Marais has become a trendy district of the Marais. Definitely Iconic like the Latin Quarter and La Rive Gauche, as its graffitis sometimes prove it.
It is located in the 4th arrondissement. It is full of museums, trendy boutiques, galleries and bars, some of which are gay.
It also used to contain the Jewish quarter of the city. This district is still home to many kosher restaurants.
Another iconic site is the Place des Vosges, verdant, which houses elegant arcades and the Victor Hugo museum, where the writer lived.
The streets around the Saint-Paul metro station lead to the Maison Européenne de la Photographie but you have not less intersting museums such as Les Archives Nationales and Le Musee Carnavalet, ideal for rainy days.

But actually if we forget the trendy aspect of the Marais, I love it for its narrow streets and its Louis XIII architecture which takes me back to the history of Paris.

Those golden statues and art nouveau lamps are absolutely stunning, especially at sunset. We couldn't stop taking photos - the Seine views are incredible, and the Eiffel Tower backdrop is perfect for couples' shots. Got some amazing evening pictures when all the lights came on. Pure Paris magic!

Great place to hit the shops, grab something to eat or take some pictures of the Arc de Triomphe. Street artists abound and there are some great singers and musicians to listen to. Plenty of shops from designer down to regular high street brands. Lots of restaurants available and easy to reach via metro or taxi. Worth a wander up and down.

I am a bit conflicted about writing this review. On the one hand, this is one of my favorite spots in Paris and I love going there every time I visit the city, especially in the spring. On the other hand, I like it that this is a less touristy area than other parts of Paris and I am nervous that another positive review will make this place more popular and touristy. :)

It's a popular place for many locals that go there and relax, including a lot of youth that hang out there when it's nice, giving you a fun Parisian vibe with the crowd. I've been there when it's fairly quiet too and it was just as awesome, a quiet place to relax while having a croissant.

The surroundings of the same looking old buildings give it a special unique look. Victor Hugo's apartment is in one of them and it's also worthwhile going to, especially if you are a fan of his work (and it is free). I remember looking out the window from his apartment and looking at the beautiful view of the park with the trees in full bloom and thinking "if that's the view he had every day, I can see why he was inspired and was such a great writer!" :)

We stayed in this section of Paris for three days and it's location couldn't have been better. In fact, all of our sightseeing was completed on foot without a single trip on Le Metro.

Hope you’re looking for an area to walk around and experience some of the little cafés and shops of Paris. I would recommend this area and also several tourist spots were there in October and it was really only super busy during the lunch hour after that it opened up.

I have been saying for many years that I would visit and each time we visit Paris , never find the time. We had a small amount of time free before our train home on 3rd October 2024, so we thought to visit very quickly, to see Edith Piaf's resting place. I think we spent a couple of hours there, mind you we spoke to a lovely gentleman there on our way out. He told us so much about the cemetery. we told him we will come back for , I should think 3 or 4 hours. We saw Edith Piafs resting place, along with Chopin and Colette. I would think 4 hours is probably needed. I think I would either take a picnic to have a rest inbetween, or otherwise, have lunch locally . I would certaibly recomment a visit but plan ahead

    PROS
    * Picturesque and beautiful island in the center of Paris
    * Quaint and charming- scenic
    * An amazing island with lots of attractions and activities
    * A great place to stroll and explore
    * Many restaurants and cafes and other food stuffs
    * Many scenic bridges cross the island

    CONS
    * It can be crowded, busy and confusing

    "I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because it's a great place- the center of Paris. I loved walking onto and exploring the island. I walked pat the (closed) Cathedral of Notre Dame several times, visited the Memorial to the Deportation and its adjacent park and went inside Saint- Chapelle and the Conciergerie. I also crossed many of its bridges.

    WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
    Yes- it is free

WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
    For sure

    ADVICE
    You must go there

I liked all three markets that I visited in Paris and Bastille Market was the best. It’s a big market with a large variety of goods. I concentrated on food. Bastille has fruits, vegetables, breads, meats and cheeses for meals at the rental apartment. It also has “sit on the park bench” foods to enjoy like pastries and crêpes. After exchanging greetings of “bonjour” with them, vendors were friendly and helpful; using whatever English they knew and patient with my fractured French.
