"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because I hadn't explored it on previous trip(s) and it is an essential part of Paris. I walked from the 13 metro on the Left Bank to the Pantheon and then to and through Luxemburg Gardens. i enjoyed seeing and experiencing the sites and the lively vibrant young atmosphere

Very good selection of books and the staff were friendly. - John BCambridgeshire, UK889 contributionsThe Pantheon is an amazing place to visit. Go early in the day before the crowds build up. It is a temple established back in the Revolution and dedicated to distinguished French citizens. The crypt contains the remains of Voltaire - but not his heart - and those of other famous French people including Victor Hugo and Madame Curie. (There are many more men than women). The sculpture and wall paintings are out of this world. - Marlaina CNew Plymouth, New Zealand2,943 contributionsDon’t be fooled by the outside, it’s way bigger on the inside. Some of the treasures more than 4000 years old. Throughout this amazing museum what I noticed was a strong beliefs of the devil and Christianity which was clearly depicted in their art. A quick note, it’s free on a Sunday. They have their own cafe which leads out onto this majestic courtyard of yesteryears. At the end of the museum, as always was a gift shop quite pricy. People still pray here so it is advised to keep the noise down. - hlaurenStoke-on-Trent, UK47 contributionsUnfortunately, this wonderfully set out museum with many seemingly interesting exhibitions and information was sort of ruined through the fact I couldn’t understand any of it. Spent the afternoon just looking at the preserved creates etc. it’s a shame as many of the screens look as if they can easily be changed and therefore a small english sub section could be added. I understand I’m in a different country and of course french should come first, but I also know it’s sort of expected of large tourist institutions to cater to the English language since it’s so widely spoken and understood. Also bear in mind my friend, a fluent French speaker and full time resident fully expected their to be English available too! - MidwestKathMDetroit, MI1,084 contributionsWe have walked by this church countless times during our visits to Paris and the Left Bank, but never stopped in so it was on our itinerary for this visit. Saint-Severin is one of the oldest churches on the Left Bank, with construction started in the 1200s; after a fire it was enlarged in the 1400s-1600s in a style called Flamboyant Gothic, which may be an extension of the typical Gothic style often seen in churches. On this rainy Sunday afternoon, we stopped by to take a look. A bit on the dark side, since the natural light was tempered by the clouds outside. Looking up the center aisle from the back of the church, and above, you see many arched ribs. Very interesting!! We walked around the side aisles to look at the various chapels with their statuary, murals and paintings, stained glass, and altars. The stained glass windows are beautiful! The oldest dates back to the 1370s; the newest date from the late 1960s. Love the modern windows! The collection is fine, though nothing particularly special if you have been to other similar museums. - Tom C24 contributionsI first visited the Musee Curie in Paris about ten years ago. It is small, and not easy to find, hidden away, appropriately on 1 rue Pierre et Marie Curie. The museum is one moderately large room, two somewhat smaller work rooms and a bookshop, plus a quite delightful garden. With such a small place, the exhibits are necessarily limited in scope, but well selected and of great interest to anyone with a scientific leaning. The garden is quite delicious with a good assortment of flowers and shrubs and busts of Marie and Pierre. A visit should last between thirty minutes to an hour, depending on your interests, but I found it so satisfying that I have been back twice since. (It would have been more but for Covid!)

We went for the pastry and came back with much more. Beautiful mosaics, woodcarving etc to admire! As well as fountains, gardens etc
Chill in busy Paris and enjoy a time out for 3 Euro pp.
