Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- debarilawNew York City, NY419 contributionsWe stayed in this section of Paris for three days and it's location couldn't have been better. In fact, all of our sightseeing was completed on foot without a single trip on Le Metro.Written 20 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Traveler OWashington DC, DC1,216 contributionsLesser known church despite being the third largest in Paris. Great example of Baroque architecture. Free entry, take your time, but be respectful as it remains an active church.Written 5 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah LLondon, UK3,535 contributionsThis place which has Pont Neuf as it's neighbour and with the Louvre, a stone's throw away is a great place from which to take in Paris. The views of the Seine are great and there are benches along the bridge. Though the bridge is no longer laden with love locks, you will find the odd one or two around the lampposts.Written 12 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brian and Wilma Bailey5 contributionsWe rented a beautiful apartment in the 6th Arrondisement through VRBO.
Claudine, the host, is such a sweetheart! The apartment is on the 3rd floor and was exactly as advertised. She was there to greet us, answer our questions, and make sure we were comfortable. The apartment is close to many restaurants, a metro stop and several bus stops. We spent 4 nights there and got to see many of the city's attractions and neighborhoods. Claudine is highly recommended and we would definitely stay there again!Written 22 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Boulevard Saint-Germain was the most important part of the reconstruction of Paris by its prefect Haussmann during the era of the Second Empire. For the sake of one boulevard, a dozen medieval back streets were demolished, including part of the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, which gave the boulevard its name. The oldest church in Paris, Saint-Germain-des-Pres, is the little that remains of the Paris that Dumas and Balzac described. Built in the XI-XII century, the Romanesque church was part of the Benedictine abbey. The great philosopher and mathematician Rene Descartes and the Polish king Jan Kazimierz Waza, who preferred the status of abbot to the status of king of troubled Poland, are buried within its walls. The small square next to the church is named Sartre-Beauvoir in honor of the famous existentialist philosopher Jean-Paul-Sarthe and his wife Simone de Beauvoir, author of the famous book "The Second Sex". The philosophical couple in the 40-50s of the XX century chose two rival cafes Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore for work. The name of the first cafe, founded in 1885, comes from two Chinese gods left over from the store that used to be here. This cafe became a favorite of Breton, Boris Vian, Apollinaire, Verlaine, Rimbaud, Wilde, Faulkner, Picasso. Café de Flore was founded two years later. During the Nazi occupation, it was the only place in Paris where there were always eggs. This is still the "trick" of the cafe. By the way, both cafes, along with the Lipp beer hall (151 Saint-Germain), are recognized as historical monuments. And that's right, a significant part of French and American literature of the 20th century is written here... by the way, about books. In addition to the expensive boutiques, Saint-Germain is the location of good bookstores. Although the popularity of paper books is receding under the onslaught of the Internet, thick books are still read in Paris, which is not difficult to notice on the subway....Written 27 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JnVSydneyGreater Sydney, Australia21,381 contributionsA lovely open air (historic) passage way, that is home to the oldest restaurant in Paris, the "Le Procope", this is one of many attractions in the area, that warrants a visit.Written 26 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VikkiBoston, MA3 contributionsThe church was stunningly beautiful but the memorial to the 11,000 transported from this church to Auschwitz by the Nazis broke my heart in two. I read the names of the children represented her, between the ages of 18 mo. and the age of six, to remember them and all who died.Written 5 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - emwhitnallSydney, Australia538 contributionsA beautiful and quiet little enclave in the bustling heart of Paris. The fountain was recently cleaned so all the details are so much easier to see now. Its a great spot to stop for a moment of serenity in the shade, and definitely worth a visit if you are in the gardens.Written 27 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It had so many different parts which were clearly put together with a lot of care and everything was really fascinating. The owner was also really nice and welcoming and clearly explained the best way to go around the museum. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves languages or just wants to learn more about them!Written 3 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MidwestKathMDetroit, MI1,087 contributionsWe sought out this charming Parisian square in the St. Germain de Pres neighborhood to pay homage to the film The Age of Innocence and the scene where Newland Archer comes with his son to reconnect with Countess Ellen Olenska but isn't able to do so. And it lived up to our expectations. It was quiet and peaceful on a sunny Sunday morning. Beautiful trees. The surrounding buildings are architecturally representative of Paris. As we walked into the Place, we passed and took our time to enjoy some of the nearby shops and galleries.Written 21 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BradHong Kong, China176,026 contributionsThis is a monumental fountain fitted into a building facade at Place Saint-Michel on the Left Bank side of the Seine. It was designed by architect Gabriel Davioud (1860) and based upon the concept of the Acqua Felice fountain (Rome).
The fountain measures 26 metres in height and features a bronze of St. Michel with raised sword, flanked by red marble Corinthian columns, bronzes of lion headed dragons with water spouting from their mouths into a basin below. It is an interesting composition and worth a few minutes to enjoy when sightseeing in the area.Written 23 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
