- Barbara Joy CSanibel Island, FL130 contributionsThe Parc Sainte Perine was expanded and renovated last year, so we decided to explore it. We found there a superb place to spend a warm summer afternoon. The flowerbeds are spectacular, and there is plenty of space for sunbathing. There are paved pathways for strolling through the central part of the park, and trails for "hiking" in the natural, wooded areas on each end of the park. The park size is now a little over 9 acres in size; even on a perfect day, we found it to be uncrowded and serene. It is a veritable arboretum, with many very old, magnificent trees. Notable because the Bievre used to flow here, the Gobbelins are close by, and Paris' first skyscraper (ugly!) sits next door. - Mairwen1United Kingdom12,001 contributionsNot to be confused with the two much larger, more impressive Grand Basins in the Garden, the Petit Bassin are two small, pond-like fountains.
Each is quite simple with a singular jet of water. They are pretty but not spectacular (if you want really impressive fountains, go to the nearby Place de la Concorde).
What makes these two modest water features more interesting is that they are surrounded by sculptures and statues, including one of my favourites - a dramatic work by Auguste Cain of a fearsome tiger with taut, rippling muscles, standing over a slain crocodile.
The two fountains can be seen in the quieter, south-eastern end of the gardens, near the Louvre.
The Tuileries are Paris’ oldest and largest garden, established by Catherine de Médici and re-designed by Louis XIV in 1664.

In the middle, there is a table tennis table but it looks like you need to supply your own ball and paddles. The other other end there is a children's playground. The place is quite large so there is enough space for a few children to run and chase after balls or each other.
There is a fence around the whole park and another around the playground. There is a small path around the playground circumference where you can keep watch of children without getting run over by them.
