Who doesn’t love the Louvre? This museum is a must see if you visit Paris. The art is breathtaking and they’ve really ramped up making the museum more handicap accessible in recent years.

We booked a guided tour called 'Les Mystères du Palais Garnier (English)' at 5pm. Overall, it is a tremendous experience, way above expectation.

    1. We were actually 10 minutes late, but the staff was able to quick confirm our booking simply by asking my last name, and quickly guided us to the correct touring group. Friendly and efficiently.

    2. The lady leading the tour is knowledgeable, passionate, humorous and friendly. I'm able to uncover lots of stories and facts related to Palais Garnier, which really enriches my trip here.

    3. As a bonus, the 5pm tour time meant we practically had the Palais Garnier to ourselves! It was a wonderful way to avoid the usual crowds.

Montmartre is like stepping into a dreamy Parisian postcard—charming, timeless, and oh-so-romantic! This quaint little neighborhood, with its winding cobblestone streets and gorgeous old-world architecture, feels like a scene straight out of a French film. Every turn reveals a new delight, from hidden cafés to street musicians adding the perfect soundtrack to your stroll.

The **Sacre-Coeur Basilica** is the crown jewel of Montmartre, standing tall with breathtaking beauty. The panoramic view from up there? Absolutely stunning—Paris stretches out before you like a painting. Just below, **Square Willette** is a charming little gem, with a whimsical carousel at its heart, adding an extra touch of magic to the scenery.

For art lovers, the **Musée de Montmartre** is a must, offering a glimpse into the neighborhood’s rich artistic history. And for the romantics? The **I Love You Wall** is a sweet spot for couples, covered in "I love you" written in over 250 languages—cue the heart emojis! 💕

A walk through Montmartre wouldn’t be complete without passing by the historic **Moulin de la Galette** and the serene **Place Dalida**, both oozing that artsy Parisian charm. And if you're up for a little adventure, just beyond Montmartre’s edges lies **Pigalle**, home to the world-famous **Moulin Rouge**, where cabaret and history come to life.

The last time I visited on a weekend, Montmartre was alive with painters capturing the city’s magic, their easels dotting the lively streets. There’s just something so special about this part of Paris—it’s vibrant yet intimate, touristy yet authentic, and no matter how many times you go, it always feels like your first visit. ✨🎨🥖

Notre Dame Cathedral was still closed for repairs from the fire when we were in Paris, so we wanted to go to St Chapelle, an old cathedral nearby, as we were told about the beautiful stain glass windows. We were told correctly, as the windows were beautiful. We walked over without an online reservation as it was a Tuesday and we did not think we needed one. We were wrong- big line, so we made online timed reservations to avoid waiting longer. Make timed online reservations ahead of time. There is a lower level and upper level so see it all. This cathedral was originally completed in 1248- amazing how it has lasted.

We spent some time walking mourned the Marais, exploring this charming and historic area. The Marais covers the 3rd & 4th Arrondissements and is an easy place to walk around and discover narrow cobblestone streets with eclectic shops and boutiques, old aristocratic mansions, cafes and lovely architecture..
The highlights were the Place des Vosges, two free museums and the best ever croque monsieur at a little wine-bar.
    We took the following route:
    i) We started from Notre Dame and strolled along the Seine, past the Ile St Louis (the less famous of Paris’ two small islands).
ii) Along the way, we stopped to browse at the ‘bouquinistes’, the vintage book and poster sellers who unpack their stalls every day from the little green boxes that sit along the walls of the Seine River. Fortunately they were not moved on for the Olympics.
iii) From there, we made our way to the Place de la Bastille
iv) Next we walked to the Place des Vosges, often said to be the prettiest square in Paris.
    v) Nearby is a hidden gem - the Victor Hugo Museum. Stepping into his house was like stepping into a time warp. The lavish 19th century furnishings, as well as ceramics, sculptures, manuscripts, photographs, letters, and paintings have been preserved as a small museum. Entry is free.
vi) We stopped for a light lunch and a glass of wine at Vins des Pyrenees where we sat outside the sun (this is where we discovered the croque monsieur)
vii) Our final stop was the Carnavalet, another free museum. It was excellent and we could have easily spent a couple of hours but we had limited time and in just one hour, we barely scratched the surface.

This bridge is beautiful. Simple and elegant. If you’re lucky enough to be there on a sunny day, the way the sun lights up the golden statues is just incredible!!

So much to see - take your time. There is so much more here than just stores or the street itself. Lots of artwork, cafes, restaurants, and smaller streets and alleyways to explore, plus the Arch is at the end.

No need to repeat what 100’s of reviewers have already said, this place is highly recommended a visit if your never been before, my wife and I and 14yr old daughter found our visit very interesting and curious !
Don’t forget to book online on the official website exactly one week before your visit, we arrived on Monday having already booked and it was sold out for the day.
Marked down one star as apparently they don’t provide an audio commentary device to children meaning I had to share mine with my 14yr old despite paying €60 !! An unnecessary cost cutting exercise by them 🙄

Said to be the most beautiful square in Paris, the Place des Vosges is a classically designed, park-like space.
It’s a perfect little square, measuring 140 x 140 m, with four identical stone fountains, one in each corner. There are mature, green leafy trees and white gravel paths lead towards the centre where there is a large equestrian statue of Louis XIII. His father, King Henri IV, built the square as part of a beautification-of-Paris project.
Elegant 17th century red-brick townhouses encircle the square, making it look like something out of Bridgerton.
It’s only a small park but its well-used. People are lying on the grassy areas, reading or enjoying the sun.
If you are exploring the Marais area, this is a good starting point.
It’s also worth noting that Victor Hugo’s house (now a free museum) is right next door and the Carnavalet Museum is nearby.

If like us, you enjoy walking while exploring, then Saint-Germain is a small but vibrant, fashionable area. We enjoyed strolling through the streets past upmarket boutiques, smart bistros and beautiful architecture. This was the area where the Paris literary and artistic set used to hang out in cafes. In the early 20th century, it attracted writers, painters, sculptors, musicians. If you were in the right spot at the right time, you might have had Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Albert Camus or Pablo Picasso at the table next to you.
Although there are a handful of sights to see here (Delacroix Museum and the Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés), we simply enjoyed it as a very pretty area through which to walk.

Fabulous place to spend a few hours whilst in Paris. It is great for escaping the busy streets of Paris and having a bit of space and solace. Wonderfully preserved and respectful to those buried there. Absolutely huge and slightly tricky to find specific graves if you are in a rush. Will probably do one of the guided tours next time when I return on my own (my sisters didn’t want to do the tour on this occasion).
