Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Ronald G6 contributionsI liked all three markets that I visited in Paris and Bastille Market was the best. It’s a big market with a large variety of goods. I concentrated on food. Bastille has fruits, vegetables, breads, meats and cheeses for meals at the rental apartment. It also has “sit on the park bench” foods to enjoy like pastries and crêpes. After exchanging greetings of “bonjour” with them, vendors were friendly and helpful; using whatever English they knew and patient with my fractured French.Written 25 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Richard R16 contributionsA “foodies paradise” and must stop. Fill up with fresh produce, cheese, chocolate, baked goods and more. Next time in Paris, I might just stay at an Air b&b just to take full advantage of this treasure.Written 8 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ronaldandringSan Antonio, TX23 contributionsRue Cler is a delightful market street between the Eiffel Tower and the Rodin Museum. Also nearby are the Brandy Museum and the Musee de L’Armee. I visit every time I come to Paris. The street is a great place to purchase the necessities for a picnic on the green below the Eiffel Tower. Unlike supermarkets, rue Cler is a collection of specialty shops — boulangeries, fromageries, wine, butcher and produce shops. There is great dining at the several cafes as well. Several hotels put you right in the middle of this incredible experience.Written 9 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gillian WCape Town, South Africa11 contributionsI really enjoyed this visit. Unfollowed by nose so to speak. I don’t feel you needs guide. I asked locals for directions they were very helpful. I didn’t engage in price questions in the more antique part of the market as no prices are shown in the windows so it was to difficult to workout if the prices were in range of affordability. I found that items were either really high quality or bric-a-bark. I just couldn’t work out the level of expected price which I feel was off putting, Getting there was easy and I felt save. I would try the other market in the South next time thoughWritten 13 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas VOakland, CA18,460 contributionsThis market was close to the apartment where we stayed, so we walked over one morning and bought some delicious fresh food. This is a very large market in an historic building. It's a lively place, good place to tour for any foodie.Written 26 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hamed KIANIParis, France36 contributionsEvery day in Paris you can discover new places, for example go to the oldest market in Paris, named after the nearby hospital where orphans were clothed in red, and has been standing since 1628.
Here you can see the warm atmosphere of the people, buy fresh fruits or taste various foods and enjoy the atmosphereWritten 13 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We went for the pastry and came back with much more. Much nicer market than others we have seen in Paris.Written 21 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Go2146010213015 contributionsI absolutely loved the market, which was less than a block from where we stayed in the 15th Arrondissement. It's held right under the train tracks for block. You can find anything and everything from cheeses, butchers, fresh vegetables and fruits, even clothes at the market on Wednesdays and Sundays. I found a nice pair of gloves and sunglasses on Sunday then went again on Wednesday and found a hat to match my gloves. I highly recommend if you get the chance to visit.Written 2 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TrainbleuBrussels, Belgium38,853 contributionsThe Marché Saint Quentin (French for “Saint Quentin Market”) is a covered food market located between Boulevard de Magenta and rue Chabrol, within walking distance of both the Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est railway stations. The market is held in an attractive triangular 19th-century iron-and-glass hall in Victor Baltard style. Stalls sell a wide variety of fruit and vegetables, cheese, meat, fish and seafood, bakery products, wine, plants and flowers, and more. More interesting for tourists are the many ethnic deli counters (Italian, Portuguese, Lebanese, Moroccan, Asian, Brazilian, you name it) selling takeaway or eat in food at very reasonable prices. Just take your food to the seating area (called “espace de convivialité”) in front of the wine merchant. There are clean loos. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 8.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on Sunday. Closed on Monday.Written 5 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John GMiddle Park111 contributionsPlace Monge market is one of our regular haunts when staying in Paris, it has a good range of foods, friendly vendors and a few small craft stalls.
Nowhere as big as Marche Bastille, but a great place to shop if you’re staying on the Left Bank.Written 26 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas VOakland, CA18,460 contributionsThere are outdoor markets in many Paris neighborhoods, but this one is upscale. The display and variety are lovely and tempting. - Thomas VOakland, CA18,460 contributionsNot many people around due to Covid and the summer holidays, so good for us to explore the beautiful displays of flowers and house plants. Our friend who lives here always comes to this market for her house plants.Written 31 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Turner S1,496 contributionsA very clean but very expensive market open everyday but Monday. The food is quality though so you get what you pay for I guess. Even the vendor from the fruit and veg stand at the top of the street admitted this might be the most expensive market in Paris. Then he sold me on cheap and pricy tomatoes and told me to taste the difference. He was right. Excellent expensive tomatoes. I hated that he was right but so it goes. The seafood stands were also expensive with langoustines ranging from 23-98€ depending on the type. Yikes. There was a small stand selling roasted chicken that had the longest line. A good idea if your hotel is nearby. The fromagerie on the street was reasonable and we snagged a delightful Camembert. For a tourist, it’s a fun thing to see if in the area which is off the beaten track a fair bit. Test your French and eat great vegetables.Written 23 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AlaskanabroadFairbanks, Alaska82 contributionsWe stumbled on this market while killing time before seeing the catacombs. What a treat. The food is very fresh and the variety is outstanding. Fish, meat, vegetables and so much more. This is well worth the time. Lots of little cafes and several serious eateries.Written 24 May 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
