Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- johnoshea2016San Francisco, CA28 contributionsI found this place walking back to my hotel. Modern building. Walked around inside and was surprised at how many shops it held. I have to admit I never walked into a shop. I was trying to travel light. A great place for window shopping, but once again I'll admit I didn't go in with the intention of buying. Anyone interested in antiques should take a look.Written 13 October 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mikeinbrunswickMelbourne10 contributionsTo call Au Passe Partout a shop is a serious understatement. The knowledge of the owner about the history of these delightful items - keys, in particular - is extraordinary. The owner didn't speak a lot of English, which is fine: he was patient and helpful. If you want to feel like a walk through history don't miss it. I bought, as a gift, a rather peculiar corkscrew (another specialty). It wasn't cheap but it was a unique object, one marked by a history of use. I look forward to returning next time in Paris. Absolutely unique.Written 20 April 2012This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Maira ToledoSao Paulo, SP275 contributionsThis shop sells antique canes from the 18th and 19th centuries, contemporary walking sticks and vintage-like umbrellas. A nice spot for collectors and appreciators of the style.
When I visited the store in December 2019 the sales lady (English speaker) gently showed me many of the antique canes and patiently explained their characteristics and differences.Written 6 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is very lovely and the staff is gorgeous and its nice to see the historical room. But it felt overwhelming to me to try and find out what was actually happening where you pick a product and scent. And the prices were outside our travel budget. There were several wealthy ladies purchasing many things and I felt out of place.
If you are with a teen discuss this might be a looking only trip, which they seemed fine with.Written 22 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It seems that they sell a bit of this and a bit of that....new, old, and antique. There is quite the selection of silver, ornaments, and just about everything you can imagine...and there is a range of prices for just about anyone! What is interesting is that the shop owner admitted that she has taken plenty of pictures during her travels and then finds a manufacturer to produce replicas of the originals. This admission I heard when I asked to look at an Italian looking putti among the nativity figures. It is lovely! Yes, I did purchase it (45Euros)! The owner added, "You know it would be so much more expensive if it were the original!" (Maybe that's why so many shops in the US have signs, "No picture taking"!) Employees are very helpful. The store is crowded with merchandise. I recommend that if you have bags, that you leave them somewhere near the door (?) so that you can really enjoy looking through all the merchandise.Written 26 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
