What travellers are saying
- h1479Bristol, UK8 contributionsAmazing trip to Hook Lighthouse.
We opted to do the tour which we would not normally do and probably it was one of the best tours we have ever been on. Lisa the tour guide was enthusiastic, informative and excellent. Really learnt about the lighthouse history and in a stunning location too. Tour was under an hour. As much as there are a lot of steps it is broken into a few parts with stopping in a room for Lisa to speak to the group
- so you don't climb them up all at once. Would definitely recommend and would return if in the areaWritten 5 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are three tours, starting 2-3 times a day so if you arrive early enough you can do them all. Our guide was full of knowledge but had some funny stories to tell as well.
I am a bit sad that we did not get to do the Viking adventure thing as it was not available when we visited but I sure hope we can do that when we come back. It is definitely worth a second visit!Written 17 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our horses always welcome. ( even in summer when we are tight certain hours to bring the horses) And we are very grateful for it.Written 22 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. For the experience we had, I was surprised at the low cost - definitely a great value and well worth going out of your way to see.Written 14 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - marionwexfordWexford, Ireland25 contributionsTrip to Saltee islands was wonderful. Ferry left on time. Seas were rough but felt safe and we were well informed with Cian as skipper. The transfer into dinghy’s made us nervous, but no need. We were helped and given proper strong life jackets . There was a woman there with young kids and the skipper couldn’t have done more to help them.
The island is a beautiful place. Loads of different birds, the highlight being huge numbers of puffins. 2 1/2 hours flew by and the sea was calmer on the way back. It’s a place to go if you want peace, no sounds other than sea and birds and a lovely landscape. Pack a picnic and soak it up.
Will do this trip again.Written 10 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Take a visit and then enjoy a walk through a great patch of forest. Did not see inside the main house sadly as not on an open day. Great place for children as they have a small petting zoo. Walled garden was pretty.Written 12 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Quest67295511 contributionsWe went today the 3rd of October. A lovely lady greeted us on entry and for ten euro each we expected a LOT LOT less!
It has a family feel immediately and is simply authentic. Not super modern but you wouldn't and shouldn't expect that from a farm. Also, I would add... that's part of its charm. We actually thought it was PERFECT! We absolutely loved it! The concept is simple. It made for children to enjoy themselves in a practical way, not just visual; with a petting areas for bunnies, peddle go karts, diggers, maze, fire engine (with a sound driver), there are birds, a parrot, bunnies, cows, alpacas, reindeers, every version of hens, ostriches... We could barely fit it all in three hours and we weren't rushed out at 5pm when it was due to close.
I cannot understand any negative reviews as it's super affordable for what you get! Compare it to Dublin zoo if you must! Unless these people got bad weather and well... That's unfortunate.
On exit, I mentioned to the lady upon entry how brilliant it was! The fire engine driver was great and the young girl educated us on all the different animals and their names and details of each of the animals.
The owners and staff should be so proud to be part of something so special and authentic. A venue clearly run for the love of the animals and creating an environment for kids.
Thanks for an awesome day. We are coming back for the Christmas experience.
Normally would tell a friend. We will tell ten. (A few had been in hindsight and thought the same as us).
Ps if I'm bothered to write a review, your doing an excellent job or a bad one. We had a young girl give a guided tour and were left to wander the grounds for ourselves afterwards and its really nice to see the new and old of the abbey blend so well. Lots of information available on the history of previous owners. We got a big surprise when we stumbled upon the gardens. This is the most beautiful place. The orchard were full of apples and the produces from the vegetable patches are sold in the tea rooms. You must try the Tintern honey! Also the cider is €6 a bottle. The community clearly use the forest for walks and boy are they lucky to have something so beautiful on their doorstep!Written 19 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Travel30WAWSligo, Ireland81 contributionsWe did the Capybara Experience which is limited to one a day if I'm not mistaken, I think this is good so the animals don't get overwhelmed. It was so nice meeting the two Capybaras as you would never get to do this otherwise. The French girl (apologies I forgot her name) who facilitated the meeting of Mango & Guava gave us a lot of information on them and gave good instructions on how to feed them.
I would rate the Capybara experience a 5/5 it was great, however I will second some of the comments below that some areas with animals such as the donkeys and ponys were a bit unkept and could use some attention to make sure all animals are kept in appropriate and clean enclosures.Written 23 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
