Lough Leane is the largest lake in killarney and it is located inside of Killarney National Park, so if you are going to Muckross Abbey or Ross Castle, you will see it.
Loch Leane is the largest of the 3 lakes in Killarney National Park and is surrounded by Macgillycuddy's Reeks, a tranquil and expansive view topped by purple headed mountains.

But the gem in the crown of the National Park is Innisfallen Island, the largest island in Killarney's Lower Lake, particularly on a gloriously sunny day.
We hopped on the small, open boat from Ross Castle and took the short ride across the lake to it, getting views from the water of Killarney National Park where we had just come from.

What a way to see the lakes of killarney, the old kenmare winds its way through the National Park, with narrow little roads and wonderful flowers and plants for all to see, a truly wonderful drive.
You have to drive slowly on this windy little road past lakes, cliffs and views of the park – which is a good thing, because there's so much lovely scenery to look at.

The walk has a wonderful views, goes though a Nature Reserve, includes several 'boardwalk' sections across a highland bog, and meanders up to an amazing view of the lakes which you can only see from the summit.
