Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovey day with family at the castle - lots to see and plenty of walking to do there - more things to see than you first imagine

Arthur's Seat is an ancient extinct volcano, similar to the Castle Rock on which Edinburgh Castle is built. It is the largest and tallest among Edinburgh's volcano sites of special scientific interest and offers stunning panoramic views of the city. Hiking to the top was easy and took us about an hour and a half. On our way back down via Crow Hill, we visited the Innocent Railway Tunnel, the first railway tunnel in Scotland, which quickly became obsolete due to the progress of steam power. Salisbury Crags, lower in elevation and formed by a glacier moving from west to east during the Quaternary period, arguably offers even better panoramic views of Edinburgh's Old Town.

The whole experience of the visit to Briannia was excellent in every response. The historical aspect was amazing and provided a great insight into the Royal family. However the major aspect of the visit was the staff, every single person was very professional but totally personable with special mention to Elaine who went the extra mile to care for us during our visit, absolutely exceptional.

Excellent and fascinating tour. It is very informative and interesting. Awful to think that human beings lived under the most appalling conditions not that very long ago. I highly recommend it.

Great afternoon or with friends. This inquisitive and interactive place really gets the mind working.
Very clean through out which is important as a lot of things need to be touched etc. Loads of hand sanitiser around as well.
The mirror lens talk at the top of the tower was pretty interesting as well.
Would visit again in the future probably.

Fantastic visit had today by our family of five. You need to visit more than once to get round and see all of it. The kids enjoyed it but 2hous was long enough for them.
There is something here for everyone.
Will defo be back with the hubby, when we have a full afternoon to spare

The terrace needs cut back, as some of the view is obscured.

Plan to spend a lot of time in this part of the city where you will find a lot of tourists and a lot of treasured sites like the castle, the palace, the university, and a number of museums. Some of the streets are closed to traffic. Walk the Royal Mile. Have lunch in a pub.

Edinburgh is an ancient city with an "Old World" look and feel to it that is best explored by walking. Of the many walking tours offered in Edinburgh, we chose Edinburgh Old Town Royal Mile Free Walking tour ("free tours by foot"), believing a tour guide relying on tips is incentivized to give a rewarding tour. We were not disappointed by the tour given by Emma. Emma's passion and enthusiasm for history is infectious, giving us a thoroughly informative tour de force history of Edinburgh. You do yourself a disservice if you do not do a walking tour while visiting Edinburgh and this is the tour I highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Truffle Making Experience. It was a very rainy day and we were all soaked so the starter of hot drinking chocolate was welcome and delicious. Jennifer taught us about how chocolate is made and where it comes from. The kitchen guide (French dude) was hilarious as well as informative. We really enjoyed our time here. The tasting afterward was delightful. We had a lot of fun.

Excellent selection of whiskey at affordable prices. Helpful menu and staff made it easy to check out whiskey options except that the large selection took a while to review. Staff picks would have helped

We had a chance to visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse during our recent visit to Edinburgh. The palace is located at the bottom of the hill that makes up the famous Royal Mile. There is a modest admission fee. Visitors are giving a complimentary headset - a brief narrative is available in each room that you visit.

This was a very nice experience. The palace is extremely well maintained. Apparently, it is still used as a residency when the Royal Family is in town. There are many rooms to visit plus grounds outside of the building.

A great way to start or end a trip to the Royal Mile.

One takes a little side trip up this hill to capture the great views of the region, to enjoy the park setting and to view the monuments. Terrific views, a journey away from the frenzy in the center.

Beautiful gardens. Splurge on the guided tour. It was terrific. The Queen's Rose Garden was still in bloom. A large selection of plants and trees from China brought back to Scotland by botanist explorers. In existence for over 400 years!

Wowster! This is very expensive but worth it. The entertaining music and dance is excellent, and these shows are what stands the beauty of Edinburgh out! I came here while visiting during the festival and it was packed busily. If you come here beforehand, in July time, they let you in the arena area but not in the castle further on. The Slushies and Ice Creams are delish.

Came as a group of 4 adults last week, what great fun!

The whole experience from start to end is very well done, lots of interesting facts and special effects. The actors were fantastic too, really made the experience what it is.

Had a good laugh and a few scares along the way, and the drop ride at the end was unexpected but great.

    Would come back.
