What travellers are saying
- zotarPlymouth, UK257 contributionsWhat a great place! We travelled to Shipley especially from Cornwall (via family!) to see the place- very glad we did! What an incredible building. Full of interesting shops and cafe, but best of all… a lot of Hockney. Well worth spending some time here!Written 7 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- mathews687Formby, UK159 contributionsWe had a very interesting day visiting Saltaire Village and mill .The mill is free to enter with a few nice cafes and Arty type shops A very nice Art Exhibition of David Hockney paintings It was interesting to read all about the life of the mill and it's workers. Due to the weather being bad we didn't get the opportunity to walk along the canal or go to the park but hope to come again sometimeWritten 6 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Allison L3 contributionsLots to do and see, excellent for children as there are exhibits to try, amazed that it was free but there are donation boxes around the building if you want to put something inWritten 13 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Helena DBradford, UK1 contributionThe 1914 Restaurant is a destination in its own right, we go before shows, last night we were attending a show at another venue but insisted on a meal here… as always it was wonderful, the service, the food and ambience…Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rebecca CYork, United Kingdom9 contributionsVisited this as a half term trip when we were in Bradford. Though it would be an hour wander round a little museum. We spent over 3 hours there! Very interesting. Volunteers so keen to entertain. Getting machinery going, dressed as Victorian ladies and in role, great displays all for free!Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peter WSudbury, UK5 contributionsRailway friends visited at the end of a day on the Keighley and worth valley. Stopped at the well stocked cafe. Enjoyed refreshments and chat in the sun by the canal. Saw the locks operated and pure luck coming up the flight was a steam powered narrow boat. A great surprise, and end to a great day out. We'll worth the visit, even for the atmosphere alone.

You can walk up in about 10 to 15 minutes. Great for kids. First time on. Nice area. Next to Roberts park. Unique attraction. Very cute. They prefer card payments. Run by volunteers, I think.Written 18 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DayTrip330174682161 contributionWe had a wonderful time this morning meeting the boys and taking quade and ace for a walk. What a great set up. Kelsey was a lovely guide walker, very knowledgeable about alpacas and very friendly with us all. The alpacas are really friendly and all have quirky personalities. It was great therapy and mindfulness walking with the alpacas and I would recommend it!Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jane RBradford, UK1 contributionThe Police Museum is a hidden historical gem in the City Hall, run by informed and committed volunteer staff, some of whom have been serving officers. Their interest and dedication certainly came across to me whilst taking part in the re-enactment of a genuine Bradford court case concerning a murder that took place in 1888.
As one of 24 members of the public, we made up 2 juries hearing the evidence of the day from a convincingly be-wigged judge, prosecutor and defence counsel. Costumed 'witnesses' gave us their evidence via 2 video screens, strangely at odds with the beautiful old wooden courtroom, after which we adjourned to bring in our separate verdicts.
But, as with Agatha Christie's Mousetrap in London, I am sworn to secrecy not to reveal the details of the case and the outcome(s), so no spoilers here!
If anyone has the interest and curiosity to learn more, it is well worth 2 hours of your time and the ticket price. I have noticed it always sells out quickly, but do note: it is not suitable for children, nor anyone who is adversely affected by grittier tv crime dramas. This may have been a long time ago, but it was real, and utterly compelling, and that is why I loved it.
The museum also hosts a Ghost Tour I intend to go on. I wonder if I'll get to meet Chains Charlie!
Verdict: Highly recommended! (Due to the nature of steep and narrow steps, I'm afraid some people with mobility problems through age or disability might have to sadly give this event a miss.)Written 5 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Safe enclosed park for children, nice lake full of Canada geese.
Pedal boats were good fun and not too expensive at £14.
Cafe nice .. especially recommend their pink chai tea
Disappointed to find the art gallery was shut on a MondayWritten 25 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Kath MManchester, UK38 contributionsTravelled from Shaw as it was recommended. My sister and I love a good garden centre at the weekend but rarely do we get to eat. I am vegan and love a cake and coffee as much as anyone. On checking the website they had a few lunches and I quote ‘a fantastic range of vegan and free from cakes’. We thought oh yes ‘finally’. We walked around the garden centre after arriving quite early- too early for lunch - and did some shopping. A great place for gifts, shoes, clothing and of course gardening items. Made a few purchases and toddled off for lunch. Happy with the food, main meals available, sandwiches and jackets. Coffee was nice and hot. Went to get one of the cakes, hmmm ‘ could you tell me where your fantastic range of vegan cakes are please? ‘. We gave a blueberry and banana cake………. That was it. I said not quite a fantastic range is it. How disappointing!! I guess I’m lucky I like blueberries and bananas but it would have been nice to have a choice seeing as that was what you advertised and we had travelled such a long way. As I said earlier, we arrived early so it’s not like they had sold out. The cream cakes were absolutely huge but as usual, vegan cake was a small slice.
When are these people going to provide what they actually say they sell?Written 8 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
