Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've been on ghost tours in multiple cities in multiple countries, it's our favourite way to learn about the history of a city, discover how to get around, and enjoy some live theatre. This walk was hands-down the best one I've ever been on! Our guide was polished and engaging without feeling rigid or overly rehearsed. The stories were all "legitimate" ghost stories (set up of a incident in history and then followed up with a story about a ghost sighting years later), which is just a fun way to make the histroy feel more real and grounded in the modern times. And we really felt like we saw a lot of the city and learned about the various different significant time periods that were part of York's rich history. There were also several opportunities for improv and audience engagement that our guide was so on top of and seemed to relish in the chaos and spontaneity of it all (my stage fright could NEVER!).
I will be recommending any friends who visit to check it out, because you really can't beat it, just a 10/10 experience!

This entire tour was truly amazing. John S. is without a doubt one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. He was extremely knowledge, friendly, and accommodating. He provided interesting facts throughout the drive and wonderful recommendations at each place we stopped. I truly can’t recommend him or this tour enough.

WOW! What a fabulous day out my daughter and I had when we went on the Herriot and Yorkshire Dales Day Trip from York. It was so much fun, informative, great to see all the little villages, the countryside and the wildlife. Mark was fabulous. He was so friendly, made our day really. Many photo stops and recommendations and Mark was always there to take a photo. He knew so much and it was really great to listen to his commentary as we drove along the country roads. We learned a lot! There were only two of us that turned up but he still went along with the trip - so we were lucky that we got a private tour!! What an interesting part of the country. Made out trip to York very memorable. Thanks BOBH Holidays and Mark - I will be recommending you to many people.

This was the most amazing day ever! We were all All Creatures Great and Small fans so it made for a great day seeing all the sites. Chris was so accommodating! Because it was pouring rain at the abbey, he offered to bypass that stop and allow us to visit the Harriet Museum in Thirsk. This was absolutely wonderful! Because it was a small group, we were able to make a change like that. This tour is a bit more than others, but it is worth every penny to be able to focus on what you really want to see! I would do it again if I come back to York!

We thoroughly enjoyed the All Creatures Great and Small tour. Trevor was our guide. He was knowledgeable about Yorkshire in general and about the series in particular. His engaging banter was informative and lively. He made it a truly excellent experience.

An excellent evening learning historical facts about York itself and its pubs. Keith imparts his knowledge in an interesting and light-hearted way, and for me the two-hour duration of the walk just flew by.

I would recommend this activity to anyone visiting the city.

All credit to Mark our knowledgeable, tour guide from BOB Holidays that we had lovely trip and a memorable day spent in Yorkshire Dales National Park. The tour took us around Pateley Bridge, Kettlewell, Hawes, Askrigg and Bedale. We spent some amazing time in Pateley Bridge which was quiet and full of pure nature. Also enjoyed some fudges from the World's Oldest Sweet Shop in Pateley Bridge. Pateley Bridge also has some fine bakery where we ate a fresh fruit scone. Kettlewell was also outstanding with pure nature and its untouched beauty. Mark's expert guidance and stories made sure that we learnt more about these places, the farmers' lives, the famous stories like filming of Calendar Girls in Kettlewell. Our lunch stop was in Hawes where we also did the cheese tasting in Wensleydale Cheese factory. Their restaurant is highly recommended. Please do not forget to try the Cheese Toasties and also pick up some cheese for relishing back at home (my favourite was Apricot Cheese, Cranberry Cheese, and the Spicy Cheese).

Mark is excellent as he remembered the names of all of us! He has a deep knowledge and explained everything in details. Whitby is a nice place to visit and the steam train is worth to try. Don’t forget to have fish and chips here in Whitby. Love to see the heather bushes bloom on the way to Whitby, at Farndale to be exact. On the way back to York, we saw goats crossing the road so we had to stop for a while. A moment to remember.

If you plan to visit York, I recommend this tour!

We received gift vouchers for this experience. It was a really enjoyable few hours walking round the beautiful city of York discovering a little history and enjoying great food along the way in good company. Would highly recommend especially on your first day of a trip to York.

Engaging and clearly spoken host who had numerous captivating stories. He took us through the beautiful back streets of York and told us some deadly bloody histories. A clear sky on a mild night in February with notable buildings like the minster in all its gothic splendour. He utilised the audience intelligently and kept both children and adults enthralled from beginning to end.
