Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

How can you now check out Piccadilly Circus, when you’re in London. It’s the mid point in a lot of routes across the capital and amazing that it’s so photographed given that it is a giant vehicle junction. Well worth stopping off and getting your Kodak moment.

A very moving experience which was well worth the visit. So very glad we came. Andrew told a moving story about the dam busters operation. You should really stop here.

Having watched the Phantom of the Opera in New York, I felt that the London version is better. The cast is excellent. We were impressed by the quality of the special effects in the show, and the attention to detail in the props. The rising and the drop of the chandelier is impressive, and it is great to see that the production goes the extra length to make a fantastic performance.

This was my second time at the Criterion, having seen The Comedy About a Bank Robbery back in 2018.

Q15 in the stalls is described as ‘severely restricted view’ for a reason- there’s a pillar in the way. However, with some slight leaning to the left and right, I was able to catch most of the action. Two Strangers was only a 2-person musical with minimal staging, anyway.

It's worth having a look at this over looked Royal Palace if you're heading up The Mall to Buckingham Palace. You will find it half way up The Mall on the right hand side. It's quite interesting and less busy than Buckingham Palace. A good place to see the Military in full uniform.

We really enjoyed our tour of Spencer House this Sunday. We had previously caught glimpses of this superb house from St James Park but only recently found out you can pre-book tours on a Sunday. The tours make this a very special experience, we were in a small group and led by a guide (Norma) who was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the house and the skilled craftsmen who restored it to its current glory.
    Highly recommended

I popped in with a view to see a particular tapestry that is presently on display.
The church is pretty and bathed in light. It is wonderful for a few moments of tranquility and quiet contemplation regardless of faith.

I had always wanted to visit Clarence House, the former home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
I got the opportunity for a private visit and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is modest by Royal standards but has all the trappings one would expect of royalty. It gives the impression of a comfortable but not ostentatious home and has that welcoming feel about it.
There is certainly an atmosphere of Royal splendour inside the house itself and one can imagine all the events that have happened there over the years. The gardens are immaculate and show the detail and imagination of His Majesty the King.

    PROS
    * Impressive dignified and regal curved structure with multiple arches
    * It defines the path from Trafalgar Square and onto the Mall and up to Buckingham Palace
    * There is some history to it- built as a memorial to Queen Victoria and then used as the offices of His Majesty's Royal navy and now what? A hotel?

    CONS
    * It's just an arch on a street, albeit a fancy one

    I VISITED THIS PLACE...
... during my expedition to see and document absolutely everything that I could in Westminster. I had seen and walked under this before, and so I did that again. There was construction and pedestrian detours.

    WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
    It is free

WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
Sure, since I intend to visit Buckingham Palace, walk the length of the Mall and go to the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square again on my next visit.

    ADVICE
    * Yes- go to see it- walk or drive underneath it and then move on

It’s not just the statue that sits atop of the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, this is the focal point of Piccadilly Circus which is always a high energy place but especially at night. Great place to sit with the other tourists and take in the liveliness of the city.

The 60th annual exhibition of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA). An annual pilgrimage for me (since 1986). Coinciding with there exhibition we also ran an exhibition at Nature in Art at Twigworth, Gloucester., highlighting the major players of this fine organisation in celebration of its 60th anniversary.

The London Library is a must-visit for literature enthusiasts. The bad news is that it's a private lending library, and you can't just walk in off the street. The good news is that they offer free tours one evening per month, and you can book free tickets through Eventbrite. These tours are an amazing opportunity to learn about the history and architecture of the building from an experienced guide, and see some of the treasures from the collection up close.
