Stoneywell Markfield
#1 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Leicester
The treasure trail was a little tricky but the stunning views and amazing weather meant we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
After a superb tour with a very lovely guide, we continued to view the walled fruit and vegetable garden festooned with scented roses and then made our way down to the tiny tea-room where we enjoyed a very welcome...
King Richard III Visitor Centre

The burial site has been preserved as well and was very poignant to see, under a glass floor, also attended by other volunteer members of staff who were passionate enthusiasts about the site and its history.
... the surprise discovery of the grave of King Richard III. Very well presented information about the history of the time and of the amazing discovery of the grave site over which part of the museum is built.

We watched the match from the South stand terrace and had a great view of both try lines and there was also viewing access via the large screens at either end at the West Stand and the Eastern end of the South stand.
The new stands are VERY welly laid out with comfy seats and great views.

I have been going here since the ground it was developed in 2002.The ground hospitality is amazing and place is awesome.I was wined and dined with an open bar and my view from my seat was brilliant.
Great views from all seats, a wonderful atmosphere, easily assessable, food and drink available.
Leicester Guildhall

Interesting gem close to cathedral and other Leicester city landmarks
Some of the lighting (especially in the library) could be replaced to make the whole a lot more atmospheric, but for a free to visit historic site it is still an excellent location.
Leicester Cathedral
#6 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Leicester
From the clean, clear well-lit panels that tell the visitor the story of the King in the Car Park, the friendly and knowledgeable guides and volunteers, the majesty of the cathedral itself, this is a site that’s w...
In all a visit to the cathedral and visitor's centre is well worth the trip, but if you are travelling a great distance I recommend combining them with other nearby sites of interest as the time it takes to visit...

Within the old castle site and steeped in history.
Despite having to navigate past some building sites and the inner ring road, the effort was well worth it.
Kirby Muxloe Castle Kirby Muxloe
#10 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Leicester
Small but still interesting Site of historic importance as (in my view) shows one of the first signs of a castle being built more in a palace style rather than straight fortification.
It’s a really nice spot - a perfect picnic site.
Jewry Wall
#11 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Leicester
I didn't know there existed such sites still exposed to the elements in the heart of a city!
Gorse Hill City Farm
#12 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Leicester
It was a plesent walk around the site looking at the different animals from goats to pigs to donkey's and ducks you also had rabbits.
The entrance fee is only £2 for adults and £1 for children, and there is a reasonably priced café on site, plus low priced gift shop too.

Lovely place to visit amazing views over the country side whilst enjoying tea and homemade cake.
Outside are well maintained gardens with a view over Bradgate Park and you can also watch the raptors overhead.
Redgate Farm Animal Sanctuary Markfield

Redgate is great for a visit with young children as they have a wide selection of animals on site including ducks and turkeys, cats and goats, horses, chickens.
Leicestershire County Cricket Club
#16 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Leicester
Grace Road is a well appointed cricket ground, with excellent views of the playing area, just a shame about the team.
The view from in front of the pavilion was fine, even if the benches are a little hard.
Haymarket Memorial Clock Tower
#17 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Leicester
Built in Victorian times, this historic landmark - iconic to generations of city residents - is generally acknowledged as being the central point of Leicester.

Leicester Castle

The remains of the castle mound (after the bolwing club chopped the top off) are impressive, with interesting local views.
The motte and bailey is pretty disappointing because it’s just a mound with some average views!
