We found great results, but some are outside Kendal. Showing results in neighbouring cities.
Limit search to Kendal.
Lake District National Park

... to Coniston take your pick. You will really appreciate anywhere in the lake district, oh yeah dont forget a boat ride or two either, another great way to see and enjoy the beauty of a wonderful national park .
You are also very close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park ( about an hours drive away from Windermere - or easiest way for that is to find junction 37 on M6, turn right signposted "Sedbergh" - about 5 miles).

Kentmere Horseshoe Kentmere
#1 of 2 Nature & Parks in Kentmere
14 miles even so it is well worth the effort the views are great all the way round only problem is the parking only about 8 to 10 space to park beside church 2-3 spaces further up lane best to get there early.
Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve
#3 of 5 Nature & Parks in Kendal
Excellent Nature Reserve where enthusiastic volunteers can tell you about the history of the area and what to look out for.
You could walk around the whole site in about half an hour if you were not looking for wildlife but if you love nature, then take a picnic and spend the day - it really is fantastic.

Highly recommend for a good bit of fresh air, peace and quiet away from the shore, being surrounded by nature and to get your bearings of the wonderful surroundings.
We were a little worried, not being walkers ourselves and having limited time paid for the car parks.

Holehird Gardens Windermere 13.4 km away
#2 of 6 Nature & Parks in Windermere
If you have the energy park the car at Windermere station and walk to the garden via Orrest Head for great views.
We were also impressed with the nature on offer, Buzzards overhead and Redstart in the garden.
