Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Joe EKingston-upon-Hull, UK2 contributionsHad an amazing tour with Ian yesterday. What a fantastic tour and for free too! Ian was so knowledgeable, interesting and a really great guy. We loved the walking tour and learned so much about the history right on our doorstep. Highly recommended if you get the chance!Written 3 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- p E1 contributionPaul was doing another tour so we met with a lovely chap (used to be a maths teacher) but unforgiveably we did not get his name. There was only the two of us but this was no barrier to a great walk around Hull.
There is so much that you would miss without a guide. We had a leisurely walk around the centre and we learnt so much that we would have missed without a guide.
We do travel to many UK destinations and always try and get a guided walking tour and the Hull tour was up there with the best we have had.
If you are visiting Hull and want to know about the history - do this tour
Many Thanks

Used comfortable and clean hides.
Very nice guest house (Anna's) with very comfortable & clean rooms and good food.
Tracey's support and organising was excellent with a lot of photographic advice. She was only too happy to sit with us in the evenings, look at our images and talk over any problems we felt we might have and advise us accordingly.Written 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a charity and totally run by volunteers and these volunteers are ex trawler men, totally knowledgable about the industry that they risked their lives for to put fish on our tables.
They can have you spellbound with tales of laughter and tragedy, in a surrounding full of beautiful ships models and displays.
It’s free to get in and they have a database full of information about trawlers and the brave men who sailed in them,.
There is some lovely gifts to buy and a donation box, well worth a visitWritten 30 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Could do with a more detailed map though.Written 10 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A walk down Bishops Lane provided an amazing array of Hull's ghosts that appear at Christmas, with some frightening stories of their appearances! During the walk we learnt an incredible amount of information about Hull's past from the amazing Ralph Keeton ... what he doesn't know about Hull isn't worth knowing. I would certainly recommend an evening in Ralph's company doing a ghost tour ... you will never look at Hull the same again!!!Written 15 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elle W1 contributionAs I walked into the door, a drunk woman who worked there told us about and apologised to us for the lack of women’s toilets, indicating they are aware this is an issue for women but didn’t bother to do anything about it anyway.
I went inside anyway because I naively assumed the woman meant they had individual cubicles with floor to ceiling doors for anybody to use with a sink, hand dryer etc. (the only safe way to implement “gender neutral” toilets). However, no, the toilets were a single enclosed room with a couple of cubicles and sinks for both men and women. Completely unsafe and unacceptable generally, but even more of a stupid idea in a late-night drinking establishment. What were they thinking?
Shabby place too. Staff were drunk. drinks were flat, interior was cheap and tacky, the unsafe toilets were tiny and filthy. We finished our drink and left.
Women will avoid this place like the plague if you do not give them safe toilet facilities to use. Unacceptable.Written 24 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Darren was keen and informative throughout, not just about the birds but also about the history of the area. The food in the cafe was fine for a light lunch, though the coffee could have been stronger! There were some interesting display boards in various places, though some are weather-worn and need replacing. Overall it was a lovely day out, seeing several birds which were new to me and enjoying a very different part of Yorkshire. It was good that dogs are strictly banned, given the sensitivity of the habitats. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust seems to manage the area well in the face of some opposition - for instance from people who object to paying the carpark fee (how do you think they look after the place going, guys??).Written 18 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - That person10 contributionsReally empty, charged ÂŁ10 entry fee and then they closed 2 hours early!
Website said last entry at 1am and open until 3am but because it was dead they closed at 1. No refund on the entry fee, no apology.
Shame as it used to be a great place.Written 2 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
