- Navigate532303259321 contributionHighly recommend. Went with a friend and 3 ten year-olds. We all really enjoyed it. Liam was an excellent source of information, funny and informative with lots of time and patience to talk with the kids.

When there was a hick up with our order they swiftly solved it, the food we were served was absolutely delicious, we had the burger and chips and the kids had some sausage rolls, which looked really good, and they scoffed them so fast I didn’t even get a taste. Will be coming back to try it out and the other stuff on the menu. To be honest the prices always seemed on the expensive side and other pubs in the area are cheaper for food. However we decided to give it a go and how wrong could I have been! We already knew they are nice people and the staff always friendly and you feel well looked after. The food was first class, we all agreed that it was way above the pub grub found elesewhere in town. Not that pub grub isnt good when thats all you want, but this was a cut above anything I have tasted except in very high class restaurants. We had with us a vegetarian and a lactose / gluten intolerant. We didnt have to say we were asked, and instantly they went to the chef and came back with alternatives. Oh yes we will indeed be back. - Jess C4 contributionsIt's such a lovely pub for locals so it's disappointing that the old town is not child friendly. Pubs that we visited before having a baby are now restricting us. I would suggest the pub owners in the old town question their way of thinking and who their target customers are. Maybe working together and alternating with other local pubs to introduce child friendly evenings could be a nice way to change our local culture. We would love to be able to take our young children to the pub for folk music afternoons / evenings once a week. Our baby has only just been born so we don't really expect to be taking her to the pub late when she gets to a certain age, but as a sleeping baby we thought we might be able to come in here late afternoon for a drink with some relatives. I'm not drinking as I'm breastfeeding so I'm drinking soft drinks out at the moment so you could argue why would I want to go to a pub, however it's still a nice place to go when you have relatives visiting. We're a bit confused by the rules anyway, maybe other parents don't expect to be able to go to pubs anymore. Went to watch a band and because it’s an intimate venue you can get close to the band which we loved. There’s also a cloakroom facility for coats for a £1 which is very useful. During the gig there was a really drunk guy being an idiot and the bouncers were straight on it and immediately sorted him out, this made me feel safe. If you felt like it, there was a good stock of board games you could play. And quizzes on a Wednesday. It’s now turned into a chav sports bar and the decor is more reminiscent of a tart’s boudoir. Good location, friendly staff and reasonably priced.
