The site is a short (5 minute) walk from the shops in Dorchester town centre and other museums such as the Dorset County museum and Tutankhamun museum, so can easily be part of full day out in Dorchester.
The hunting games handed out at the start encourage the kids to look everywhere, and my two loved every minute of it, despite being bored in similar museums.

The museum has some really interesting exhibits in it, and it's one of the few museums where I've come out feeling like I've actually learned instead of just a look about.
A short visit turned into several hours exploration of this unique museum where everything is very well presented and provides an extraordinary insight into Lyme Regis and its coast.
