Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This ski resort is absolutely amazing. So much good terrain, every bowl has something different. I spent a whole season here and grew to love it more and more the longer I stayed. This ski hill has a special place in my heart, I love it!

Awesome hiking trails around Island Lake Lodge:

Old Growth trail great for easy/moderate hike through lots of giant trees. Largest amount we’ve been to without a commercialized feel. Still natural setting. Nice for dogs to cool off in the creek.

Spineback to Goldilocks trail fantastic 10km advanced trail 840m elevation gain. Varied terrain - lake, old growth forest, sub alpine rock gardens, fossils, alpine scree paths, VIEWS!

Campground has several nice sites with decent privacy. Creek nearby. Extremely easy access to mountain bike trail system and hiking. We stayed in site 49 with nice tree gully and creek instead of “neighbours,” mixed forest beautiful backdrop to our propane fire pit (campfire ban in effect.)

Beautiful green golf course also close by with top notch views. We played twilight for $40 per person. Hard to beat that.

Went on a Sunday an hour before close. Super busy inside. Liked the Ghost Rider and What the Huck beers. Patio isn't covered, would be good if it was, at least partially, especially in COVID so people could still sit outside in inclement weather.

Spent the day fly fishing the Elk river and have to say it is in my top 3 fishing trips.

Linden my guide was excellent and had me on fish all day long. If you book request Linden and you won’t be disappointed.

The Fernie museum is located in an old bank downtown. Highly recommend stopping in. The timeline was very well done. Plan to spend about 30-45 minutes here. The art being displayed upstairs was not our taste, at all.

What a fabulous and fun experience. The two guys serving were fantastic. Enjoyed the 2 tasting flights and the drink afterwards. Our favourite was Fernie Fig Liqueur. Of course we had to buy several small batch bottles.

Stopped here as we were passing through Fernie in July.
It’s very bright and modern inside with a great selection of leaflets. There are several small souvenirs available to purchase.
    Clean washrooms are also available.
There is plenty of parking and a few picnic tables.

Breathtaking views from this little spot. Also lots of little fish in the water - kids loved looking at them swim around. If in the area, a must see.

If you are looking for something free and fun (not wanting to pay to be inside on a nice warm day) to do with younger kids then check out the spray park. There are trees around with shade as well as giant canopy they have up to help you stay out of the sun.

Simply push the button to get the water flowing and the kids will know what to do next.

The one precaution is the water is very cold so go on a hotter day.

When in Fernie you have to go to the library to check it out. The book selection is ok but the building is very nice.

I went in to look for a painting of Coal Creek, unfortunately they didn’t have a local artist who had done one but the lady in there was so helpful and friendly and full of local information that I didn’t leave disappointed

In addition to the interior, this ex-railway station has some marvelous architecture. Take some time to extended eaves which cover the large platform, and the interesting dormers.

There are lots of different routes and obstacles at this park, making it fun for beginners and more experienced riders alike. We even saw toddlers on running bikes practicing their skills.
