Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Takarasina2,276 contributionsI was there in January. Just for fun.
Dmitrov is an old lovely Russian town well worth visiting. Not that posh and harum-scarum as Moscow, not sort of artificially polished for tourist consumption as Suzdal', not European glamorous St. Pete.
Its Kremlin is both authentic and kinda toyish, both ancient and lively, both tranquil and agile. Tidy, solemn. Cathedrals, statues and the whole of "intramuros" ambience enchant.
A pleasant hideaway from the annoying buzz of the megapolis seventy kilometers down south.

Lovely. It nestles in Dmitrov center, in an old wooden house where Pyotr Kropotkin lived and died.
Two floors, five rooms. The ground floor where the prince actually dwelt is the most interesting - black-and-white photographs, pieces of simple furniture, books, letters...
For anarchists :))) (I strongly doubt if any English is spoken there though.)Written 17 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a beautiful old Russian Orthodox Church for religious visitors. A beautiful garden with aromatic flowers contains another area where the Peacocks live which also has a fishpond containing many different species of fish. It is within easy walking distance of the centre of Dmitrov town.Written 26 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Takarasina2,276 contributionsAlone. On a pretty cold weekday.
There was a Mass served there when I stepped in - priests in richly decorated clothing, candle lights, frankincense fragrance, beautiful a cappella choir singing. Enchanting!
The temple is almost restored after its communist desecration. The iconostasis is particularly impressive.
The main church of Dmitrov.Written 17 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Takarasina2,276 contributionsAnd each can be found here as a separate attraction.
So, I'd better write a review of each of it. More appropriate.
(Saw in January.)Written 17 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Takarasina2,276 contributionsIt's almost а charity organization - a RUR 50 (ca. USD 0.68!!!) entrance fee...
Still, rather run-of-the-mill. Never saw so many frogs per square meter in my life. Which does not make them look a grain more attractive.
They sell quite nice artisanal Christmas tree decorations there, however. I bought some.

I saw that monument to Dmitrov founder in January. It was erected in 2001 right opposite comrade Lenin (whose life had nothing to do with that town) - funny.
The prince points to the spot where future Dmitrov must emerge. Though its name differs from the one of the guy it nevertheless is sort of authentic. Since in those ancient times every Christian person in this country actually had two - one for all to know and one known only to God (and the clergy, of course). And in this case, it was just Dmitry. (He was half-British, by the way. His mum was Gytha of Wessex.)
A nice statue. A good photo op.Written 17 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It used to be a savage corner in 90s but after careful renovation become a leading attraction. You could hide here from the city noise, relax by the cascaded fountains which are alighted during the summer nights and transform into futuristic precious huge stones shimmered from inside in winter. Popular among local kids for cycling, skateborading in summer and skiing in winter. Little wood in busy surroundings.Written 15 December 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Takarasina2,276 contributionsThat does not mean that lore museum is bad though. Just to the opposite - I loved my January visit there. But I'm Russian and the place targets exclusively Russians. Moreover, there're practically no signs in any foreign language there and no English-speaking audio guides either.
So, think twice unless you command some Russian.Written 17 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
