Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took the Ferry to Hobsonville Point and back which was a good hour on the boat. We checked departure times to match the return time to the city, so we didn’t need to get off the boat. The kids really enjoyed seeing our beautiful harbour.

The weekend we visited there was so much to see - Endeavour Replica, Spirit of Adventure, Navy Ship "Wellington". A lot of people around and a beautiful day for it. Obviously a hub for things happening in Auckland. A lot of nice cafes and restaurants to visit

What a lovely hidden gem. Visited this place as the historical home has personal meaning to our family history.
Thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the home and grounds and walking around Casnell island at low tide.
Such a peaceful place sitting on the beach in front of the historical home.
Loved the huge tree on the grounds as well.

Coming from the CBD, we hoped to walk to the harbour bridge, but didn’t have quite enough time.
We did however walk the Westhaven Promenade, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. There were good sculptures and interesting seating. We watched a sailing lesson for children and radio controlled model boats out in the marina.

It was a shame that you walk through an industrial area and the back of boat yards to join to the Wynyard Quarter, although the area does seem to be under development. Better signage linking the areas would be a bonus!

We finally got around to doing the walk around Orakei Basin on our latest trip to Auckland, last week.
We took the train to Meadowbank Station and walked from there to the end of Purewa Rd, where the boardwalk starts. We walked around the basin in an anti clockwise direction. At the end of the boardwalk you walk up a little bit of hill before walking back down and past a car parking area, around the basin.
Further around there are some steep steps up to Lucerne Rd, where you cross the road to rejoin the path around the basin.
Down some more steps to cross the bridge over the stream, then continue round to finish up back where we started.
Instead of going back to Meadowbank Station we continued back along the boardwalk again, then instead of turning left to follow the basin edge we went straight ahead to finish up at the Orakei Station so we could catch a train back into Britomart.
It took us about 50 minutes to do this circuit, plus the repeat of the boardwalk.
We enjoyed this walk and it is easy to get to on public transport. But the birdlife was a little disappointing. Panmure Basin remains our favourite walk in central Auckland, but Orakei Basin is pretty good and we will do it again on any future visit to Auckland.
There are no public toilets on the Orakei Basin walk.

Beautiful wharf with lots of nice bars and restaurants. Great for an evening walk to enjoy the sunset over a drink. Bring a camera with a good zoom.

dropped off into the village/township to help a friend attend to various government body visits, and chose to stroll home along the front - something I haven't done since my children were young

The plaza is the area in front of the Team Emirites New Zealand Building in Wynyard Quarter. It is the area in front of the Wynyard Crossing.
The area has an information container as well as plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the harbour views. You have the Wynyard Quarter Restaurant on one end and the Viaduct restaurant on the other so there are plenty of food options. There is also an area for swimming. It is quite a nice place to just relax and take in the local ambience, particularly after a good meal nearby.
