The cathedral is located in Akhmeti Municipality, This is really the must visit place in Kakheti Region. Especially if you get chance to visit it on Weekends

Gombori pass in an alternative way to reach Kakheti Region main city Telavi. This is shorter, than the main road via Gurjaani. Gombori pass is well known for its picturesque landscape. The curve mountain road is wonderful throughout whole year, but the most beautiful is spring and autumn. If you don't have problems with endless turns or drastic changes of elevation and air pressure, then Gombori road is your road of choice to Kakheti. The pass itself peaks at 1620 meters above sea level.

Not sure how long was the contour of this tree, but I took mike at least 2 minutes to walk around it. I believe we would need at least 15 people to hug it. The tree sits close to the center, 2 steps away from the Batonis-Tsikhe Fortress, what makes it easily accessible. Its beauty is almost shadowed by the panoramic view of the valley that lies behind him, great spot to take some souvenir photos to take back home.

Both churches are just a small detour from main road.
Akhali Shuamta is just 0.5km from main road. Now going under major restoration.
Dzveli Shuamna 2.3km and should not be missed. Very peaceful church surrounded by greenery with the Caucasus range in the back.

Batonis Tsikhe, literally, "the castle of the lord", is a 17th–18th century architectural monument in Telavi. It was the main residence of the Kakhetian kings in the 17th-18th centuries. The complex contains surviving sections of the Persianate palace of the kings of Kakheti and a museum with archaeological and ethnographic exhibits, manuscripts, rare publications, military equipment and a fine arts gallery. The entire complex underwent extensive renovation in 2018.

The monument is located right next to the fortress so it is centrally located and worth the tiny detour.

Had the pleasure of visiting this winery with some friends and was shown around by one of the owners David Buadze. David was an outstanding host and treated us like family the entire time. We learned about the wine and the process, drank and ate our fill of food and had good conversations as well.
In the end I'd say we ended up making some new friends as well as enjoying some delicious wine.

We went and we saw the history of wine making in this village as it is very famous with the grapes crops. Very nice place and relaxing to visit.

The museum is within the fortress and has an interesting contrast with it since the museum is in a modern building. The collection is rich in the region's history.

Found David in the lonely planet and communicated with him via Whatsapp/call. Initially agreed to a 3 days tour, from Tbilisi-Kazbegi-Telavi but ended up spending 6 days with him! We also visited Batumi and discovered together the Western wine region ‚Racha‘. I can highly recommend David, he is knowledgeable, speaks well English and drives safe & fast. Plus he has a good attitude of saying that ‚anything is possible‘ 💪 Thank you David!

To add to the other reviews, we would definitely recommend Mamuka as a driver. Very kind and knowledgeable and a very fair man. He took us anywhere we wanted to go and was a great companion. He is still using the number (+995) 555156715

If you looking for a unique real georgian experience do not hesitate to visit this place. Amazing view that will be never boring, you can bite the air here it's that clear. Also this place has the best host who i could wish for. Just ask him to take you to Zaza (qvevri maker) and organize a supra with the unbelievable polyphonic singers. I'm not lying when i say i ate the best local food here. A real hidden gem. One of the best place i've ever been, can't wait to come back next year! ♡
